We expected a quiet meal in an old and venerated restaurant and found ourselves in the middle of an American tour. Staff was stretched thin and the food was adequate. What a disappointment.

Chris and his team were knowledgeable, freindly and fun. The food (we had the 9 course tasting menu) was at every course delicious and immaculately present. We cannot recommend this place enough! Go!

The Maire D' is a well versed friendly nice guy. The food is great. The restaurant of this historic hotel reflects it all in the items on the wall. It is close to La Scala.

We just arrived in Milan, and wanted a traditional Veal Milanese… Boy did we hit the right spot!! Other TA reviews are misleading, this place is very enjoyable and very well served by the staff. And the food is awesome! The bread is a tradition here and its fresh, crispy and worth it, but be careful though, you don't want... More

The restaurant DON CARLOS is claiming to be a gourmet restaurnt. Food was stylish looking - but not tasty all. NOT one single dish. So we left before dessert. Service very bad (we had to serve ourself with wine and water, empty cocktail glasses on the table till departure). The price of nearly EUR 400 was a waste - never... More

I started with these 3" square squid ink Ravioli stuffed with grouper that was the size of an American Nickle and slimed with this bright green sauce. To finish this awful dish they added two scary looking miniature octopus. The Veal Milanese made up for the prima piatta dish. My wife had the Foie Gras...ordinary, and Turbot that was great.... Description
The Don Carlos, pays homage to Maestro Giuseppe Verdi, who stayed
at the Grand Hotel et de Milan for more than twenty years. An intimate and
elegant setting with paintings, sketches and scene-paintings from the La
Scala Theatre Museum. The Don Carlos Restaurant serves Italian traditional
cuisine under the light of its antique silver chandelier.

Under the executive management of the Chef Angelo Gangemi, the Don Carlos
offers a traditional Italian cuisine which presents all ingredients
according to their seasonality, interpreting with originality and refinement
menus taken from the flavours and fragrances of the Mediterranean tradition.
It is listed in the leading guide-books and reviews as one of the most
exclusive restaurants in Milan, having reached a top gastronomic level, with
excellent service in an elegant atmosphere. In the cellar, that prides
itself on 200 labels, you can find the remains of an old Roman wall that
dates back to 250 AD. Open for after theatre dinners, in the warm seasons it
is also possible to eat outdoors.

Staying in Brera

Neighborhood Profile
Brera
Brera captures the real essence of the city. It is an excellent mix between history and modernity, where tradition meets innovation. Here design and beauty reign. On Via Brera there are the famous Pinacoteca (galleries), the National Gallery of Modern and Antique Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Interior design boutiques and intellectual cafes are typical of the district. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. On Sundays, going to the local market is an unmissable opportunity for fashion, style and art. Tucked away, there is the Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden that seems like a painting framed in an ancient fairy structure. Last but not least, it’s worth a visit to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli with its Planetarium, the Civico Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum).
