I've tried to go to the Cinquecento for the past one year, but having two kids is always a trouble to schedule any decent meal. Finally we arrange a familial gathering with my children, parents and in-laws. They gave us the tavern so that kids could be as turbulent as they liked without annoying other guests. The eight of us... More

This place has a selected offer of dishes, but you can bet what you are going to taste will satisfy your mouth. Good choices of wine that will be your best friend for the evening. they have also a fantastic raindeer if you woul like to try something special not really local but amazing. Bill is on average: of course... More

Warm and friendly service with great Italian food options. We enjoyed eating off the main tourist track with choices beyond the staples of pasta and pizza. Great to find we were the only guests speaking English, always reassuring to think that locals choose to eat here.

Here our group of 25 had our celebratory, end-of-tour dinner in a smallish restaurant on a narrow street near Mantua’s ancient, cobbled courtyard. We had a party and a feast. The smiling servers kept the dinner flowing at a good pace, and what a dinner it was: The appetizer was Tomino cheese in pastry with onion jam and balsamic reduction... More

It is hard to find "bad" food in Mantova, but as in all towns, there are ok enough tourist restaurants (in all the main piazza's) and then there are the hidden gems... Off the beaten track, but still walking distance from the center, great food, locals only, and great staff. Went with two little childern with no booking on a... More

We got the address from the owners of the hotel where we were staying in Mantova. She advised us to keep away from the tourist traps in the city center and rather go for the more typical osterie along the Via Trieste that serve excellent local dishes. The taverna has two eating rooms which are appropriately air-condioned. Service is quick... More

Our dinner at Taverna Cinquecento was wonderful: great food and service in a very nice atmosphere, and truly excellent value. Every dish we had was a display of skill and refinement: the riso alla pilota (a discovery, with separate dry grains rather than creamy like a risotto: surprising appearance and fantastic taste!), the radicchio pastry with gorgonzola sauce, the turbot... We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant on a saturday night in August and would highly recommend it. The atmosphere is good, the staff very friendly and helpful, the food superb and the prices very reasonable.

I tried the food there few months ago and really like tortelli di zucca, but without butter and parmiggiano. but apart from that it's quite expensive restaurants and the servings are not big. it's due to quality i guess, so ofcourse still recommend the place, but not for vegans, sorry

We have been manytimes to this excellant small restaurant and it never disappoints. The traditional Mantova food with a modern twist is great.
