Having visited as a couple last year, we returned this year with 4 friends and had a fantastic evening, despite no outside seating which would normally be essential for us. Quirky interior, only a handful of tables, waitresses very pleasant and not obtrusive. Pace just right throughout meal. Food journey starts with probably the best bread basket you will experience.... Amelie is a great find in Baveno and definitely worth looking for as it's not on the beaten track. The chef is ambitious and clearly likes to experiment with tastes and textures, to great effect. I can imagine him aiming for a Michelin star - perhaps he was trained like that. Highly recommended for food, ambiance and sheer hedonism.

There's a tiny 7 table restaurant tucked away in a back street of Baveno that is delivering brilliant food. It's not easy to find, and parking the car is a challenge, but don't give up. When the bread was served (6-7 different types), we realised that we were in for a treat. The co-owner/chef has a passion for food that... More

When seven different kinds of yummy home-made bread arrive, along with delicious pre-meal nibbles and a refreshing cold ginger aperitivo (before you've even opened the menu) it's easy to tell that you are in a wonderful restaurant!! The service here is special - attentive, polite, charming but not over-effusive. The chef came out of the kitchen three times during our... More

We visited this restaurant following a trip advisor review. It was an excellent meal. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. It was not a cheap meal but was good value.

What a find,, lovely restaurant where the chef and the owner take great pride in their food, and the ambience. The food is simple, but elegantly presented, rich flavours and great use of herbs. It was a full 5 star experience, the wine was decanted , aperitives, in between course palate cleansers, digestives, creative dessets ( gin sorbet complete with... More

This Restaurant is small and intimate, but the food and wine was distinctly average. I had Rooster and potatoes for my main course, which my boyfriend described as a posh version of chicken and chips, but without the basket. Our starters of pea soup with scallops and seafood ravioli were tasty, but not hot enough. The service was variable and... More

very good restaurant, somehow inspired in the french film "amelie". a small place (8 tables or so), a bit far from the lake (20 minutes walking, 5 minutes by car) the decor is pleasant, specially for those who like many small details, lights of differnt colours... (may be not my case, but anyway, it works in order to create an... More

What a great little restaurant. After reading TA reviews our expectations were high. We managed to book a table on the same day which was great... Although it's was early April and I'd imagine they get busier during the season. We were greeted by the chef. What was striking was the attention to detail in decor. Just so many little... More

Description
Dear Guests, the starting idea of this restaurant embodies one of the themes from the popular movie Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet in 2001, that is to keep a curious eye on the world and take pleasure in the simple things ... we tried to carry this idea through in the meals, offering a mixture of flavors, fragrances and also feelings to free the spirit ... and ...fly ...The restaurant Amelie is a place where you can taste good food and learn small tricks for your own well-being . The first of which being a return to simplicity, that to Paolo (Chef Patron) and Miky (Naturopath) means in first place to live according to the pace of the seasons. This simple and primary secret is translated in the seasonal menu based on the ingredients that Nature offers us only in their own season. For this reason the courses will vary according to season availability.Amelie wants to make people aware that we are what we eat.Paolo, who is rational, calculating and practical and Miky, who is instinctive, ethereal and sentimental , want to share their views so that you can share yourselves with many more people the pleasures of good eating and well-being on your own and with others. That's why for example we use pure oils, essences of flowers and leaves, and fruits and berries in the environment and in the food.At the end of the meal, if you want you can learn more about our choice of products and oils, at that time of the year, and can smell the essence used, and maybe make it your own.Paolo and Miky wish you all to have a good time.WELCOME ... in Amelie wonderland!
