We had read excellent reviews of Locanda Barbarossa and were not disappointed. The modest restaurant In a narrow street off one of the main squares in the Old Town had set up tables in a small courtyard in front of a municipal building. The service was quick and friendly. The veal and pizza were wonderful., as was the tiramisu. The owner even ordered a taxi for us. Highly recommended.

We had the pleasure of visiting Locanda Barbarossa in January 2024 for a business lunch, on the recommendation of our hotel. Overall, it is a good restaurant with friendly service. We opted for the cold cuts platter, which was surprisingly served with a delicious focaccia, although we had not ordered it. This unexpected gesture turned out to be a pleasant surprise and enriched our culinary enjoyment. The Tagliata di Manzo we ordered was excellently prepared and delighted with its taste. However, there was a small inconvenience regarding the open Primitivo we ordered. The bottle served seemed to be already expired and inedible. After we brought this to the waiter's attention and asked how long the opened bottle had been open, he assured us that it was fresh. However, this statement turned out to be incorrect. After we asked, the attentive waiter opened a new bottle of Primitivo at our table. This one proved to be significantly better in taste and confirmed our suspicion that the first bottle was indeed no longer drinkable. Best pasta and pizza in Como

We stayed in Como for 11 days and this was the best place we ate at during our trip. It’s very popular so it’s best to arrive early or book (we got there about 7.45 and were squeezed in). If you sit inside you can watch the chef loading pizzas into the oven 8 at a time! The lasagne was fantastic - one of the best I’ve ever had in Italy - and the pizzas were really high quality. Service was friendly and honest - we were informed there would be a 30 minute wait for pizzas but we could tell they would be worth it. We would definitely go back if we’d found this earlier in our holiday.

I’ve never had such a bad experience in a restaurant. First of all, you are not allowed to split a dish. We wasn’t very hungry and wanted to have one pizza for two. Waiter asked us to order more food than we needed and refused to bring us pizza if we don’t order salads as well… We didn’t get an English version of a menu. To access it, we had to go to the website. We were served by two different waiters, which was very confusing. Both were unpleasant and made us feel not welcome. I do not recommend this place.

The food was good but our waiter was unbelievably disrespectful. He treated us very bad because we couldn't speak Italian. Instead of trying to communicate friendly with us or asking a colleague who was capable of speaking English he reacted annoyed and offended us because we didn't understand him.

Excellent pizza, but prices revisable

First time in this place located in the center of Como in the alleys of the Walled City. The table where I ate was in the lower room, very nice as was the rest of the place. I tried a pizza followed by a dessert. The pizza was very good! nothing to say about the production and the very high quality of the ingredients, but I find that this is not in any case (neither here nor anywhere else) justified by the price (the prices of the pizzas seemed exaggerated to me). The dessert is also good, but I would like to give a suggestion to the owners: try creating new desserts in addition to the 'standard' ones, I would be much more curious to try them!

The Best in Como

This was one of my best meals in Italy, from the on point service to the personal attention from the owner. You can tell his 20 plus years have manifested into amazing hospitality. We ordered literally everything Pizza, Beef carpaccio, salads, Bronzino, tuna, steak, and pasta with clams, topped of with a crazy awesome Chardonnay suggested by the owner. Just a beautiful experience, thank you to everyone at Locanda Barbarossa for such an amazing experience. We will be back, sending love from NYC. Oh and dessert is RIDICULOUS !!!!!!!

The restaurant was not even half full, yet we were not allowed to consume only dessert and coffee. We should have ordered pizza or pasta, too. We only wanted coffee and tiramisu, but luckily there are several good restaurants in the immediate vicinity, so we left the place.

As a rule I don’t eat pizza; it tends to be too soggy, sweet and simply not good. My margarita pizza with fresh mozzarella was simply amazing with just the right ratio of sauce to cheese. The crust was thin and crisp and perfect. The diaviolo was just as good. Service was warm and welcoming. And the prices were half that of lesser restaurants in the heart of the tourist area. I highly recommend.

Pleasant experience

Very nice and intimate place in the center of Como. The manager was really attentive and kind. The raw materials used are of high quality, a simple pizza prepared in an excellent way. We will definitely return, recommended.

The food was delicious, the service was excellent. We were eating outside and during our dinner a sudden and unexpected thunderstorm broke out. The restaurant staff moved everyone inside taking us individually under umbrellas and making sure we were okay. They treated us as valued guests rather than customers.

This restaurant is fabulous. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly, and so patient! Our group came in late based on a recommendation from our wine tasting guide and the meal did not disappoint! Pizza, pasta…. All delicious highly recommend for a wonderful dinner experience in Como!

Outstanding! Best meal so far in Italy! We came for the pizza, but will return for both pizza and the pasta. Together with amazing service, a beautiful atmosphere and really reasonably priced this is our favourite eatery in Como! We visited after spotting it on a walk around the old town as they have a beautifully lit outside space. We shared two pizzas and a pasta between two adults and our 3 year old. They could not have been more welcoming and really engaged with our toddler and 5 month old, which made the experience even more special for us. As said the pizzas were superb (as you would expect in Italy!) but the pasta alla matriciana was the best pasta dish we have ever tasted!! Worth coming for this alone! An amazing experience for our little family! Thank you!!!
