If you'd like delicious local food in Bergamo, in a restaurant with the distinct objective of supporting community activities, this is the one! For us, the most delicious dishes were the local Casoncelli and the Rabbit with Polenta. As you enter, it seems like it's just a bar - but you will be taken to eat on the terrace (in summer) or upstairs to three large dining areas (in winter) where the service is efficient (but a little stretched on a busy holiday weekend when we visited) and the food is superb. Good value, and a great place to experience. We loved it so much.

Il Circolino is a non-for-profit coop whose restaurant supports social projects for the residents of Bergamo Alta, including senior citizens and the underprivileged. The food is very good and less expensive than analogous restaurants in the neighborhood. The restaurant is located in rooms with high vaults and old frescos that add charm and magic to your meal.

Large and busy restaurant, a bit off the tourist path, but it doesn't mean far. The food and the service was very good. A great deal since you could have wine, coffee, first course and main dish for 14 euros....a great deal....the rabbit !!... it is the specialty of the house.

After reading the good reviews for this restaurant, to say we were disappointed was an understatement. We ate here as a family of 7 and every single dish that was served to to the table was cold. We sent all of the food back and it was reheated but this is an indicator that none of the food was prepared fresh and is just microwaved as needed. None of the waiting staff batted an eyelid when we sent the food back cold. It was very busy here but most people seemed to be eating pizza. Maybe this would have been a better option. All in all it was very disappointing and the only bad meal we ate on a 12 day holiday to Italy. Would not recommend.

The worst culinair experience during 3 weeks in north of Italy. Food itself maybe not that bad but all around it truly terrible. Primi piatti came cold. Upon providing the feedback to the waitress we heard it is a long distance from the kitchen. When eating my primo piatto, sth dropped from the bottom of my plate to the table. The plate was dirty with some other food. Upon providing this feedback, a waitress started the discussion it is normal as people carrying food to tables have multiple plates to carry (???!!!). It took ca 40 min to remove first plates from the table ( a lot of service guys walking pass during that time). From that moment on, the service got even worse. Then the main arrived.... and surprise surprise cold again. And really cold like after waiting for at least 10 min in the pass. I am truly sorry we have waisted our last holidays evening there. A big big mistake- non professional customer service bad communication between kitchen and waiters and a lot to improve. Appareny targetted at massa non returning customers... a pity.

Was recommended by Patrizia our ever helpful contact whilst staying at Divinosuite 20. Didn't book a table but managed to get a table for 4 on a Friday night, think we were lucky as it was pretty busy with mainly locals. We shared a meat and cheese platter to start, then went in for pasta and a mixed fried fish, food came out pretty quick and was pretty good all round, not massive portions, but we're in Italy right and meant to order 4 courses. Definitely worth a visit, nice atmosphere, a good mix of people and a dog.

Excellent value for money. We had the Piato del giorno (daily’s special) at 10€ And a 1/4 of a good red wine. Paccheri with potatoes and mussels and a type of salad with fresh goat cheese, fresh tomato coulis, croutons and crudités…excellent

We ate here the last night of our trip to Bergamo. This place is actually a little difficult to find but when you sit down it looks like everybody is there. Super large outdoor areas where a lot of locals are eating. The food was good. We ate nice pizza’s and pasta’s and polenta with rabbit. Just good Italian food and you eat with the locals. On the basis of just the food and service I would give a 4/5 rating. What this place also offers is a great place to eat outside and a great atmosphere. Moreover, you are able to support a good cause by eating there. Which makes me give this place a 5/5. When you visit Bergamo for several days this is definitely a place where you should go. I would recommend.

Best place in upper city to eat. Prices are actually fair, staff is plentiful and attentive, the food is made quickly and it all tastes good. They have an abundance of baby seats for families and generally are a breath of fresh, professional unpretentious air in an otherwise stuffy and pricey old town.

This restaurant is lovely. The menu is varied. Everything we have eaten here has been well prepared and served by very friendly and helpful staff. This restaurant is also a social enterprise so when you eat here you are supporting projects in the Bergamo community. If you sit on the right hand side of the large garden, the view over the hills is beautiful

I have eaten here on previous visits to Citta Alta and this trip ate here 3 of 4 nights holiday. Food lovely, varied and so reasonable. Staff brilliant and the whole restaurant has a fabulous vibe it’s so popular with locals. Best to book at weekends especially as it’s the place to be. Can’t beat the pizzas. Cost twice the price in other restaurants for meals nowhere near as good.

On our travels through Norden Italy we met guys from Bergamo who recommended this restaurant as a place locals like and go to. So we had to try. The place has a HUGE outside seating. When we arrived we were told they are full so we made a reservation for later and we are happy we did. The food was excellent (ordered Casoncelli and the other non meat version - both highly recommended!) as well as pizza. The staff was attentive and we had an awesome evening.

Very well organized and friendly service. Very popular among locals and for good reasons. We ordered drinks and food and in less than 5 minutes we had everything on the table. The florentine beef stake was cooked to perfection medium rare, served on a hot stone plate with baked potatoes, the home made ravioli were delicious and the naked burger was also a nice pink medium rare with good quality beef. They have a nice payment system where they serve the check on delivery of the food so once you are done you can leave the take and go pay the bill at the entrance. This streamlines the process and you don't have to wait for the bill.

We ate here on our last day in Bergamo. It's a delight to sit in the covered garden area, it feels like your attending a local wedding or celebration. We went for the lunchtime set menu for 15 euros which is excellent value. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was all extremely tasty.

We had a lovely experience at the restaurant - we tried some local dishes - casoncelli alla bergamasca and polenta taragna. Together with some local beer. We tried also the desert and we were not disappointed. There was also a wedding when we were there and we were enchanted also by old italian songs. Personnel was friendly and effective. The restaurant can become crowded and it is difficult to find a free table at the classical hours for lunch and dinner.
