Simple but nice Italian food

Our receptionist recommended this restaurant. We really liked the Italian atmosphere, there is no outside terrace though. We liked the Trofie a la Portofino and the verdure ripieni, the pesto and pasta are homemade.

We have eaten here several times in both May and December, most recently last night. Even though the trattoria was packed, the food was delicious, menu offered a good choice, and staff were as usual, helpful and pleasant. We like eating here when in need of a quick, casual and relaxed meal. The menu choices, which vary daily, are based... More

Pleasant service, tons of German tourists, food particularly unlovely. Mixed salami appetizer was underwhelming to say the least, trenete pesto was just OK, small portion, ugly presentation. Fritto misto absolutely awful. House wine decently priced. But would not recommend this venue.

Dear guest, we're sorry but disappointed for your review. What do you mean : "tons of German tourists" ? Should we ask passports to everbody ? Our place is a family run restuarant, traditional home made cooking since 1964 and we serve food to everyone, dogs and cats included... As regards your food review we're sorry you didn't enjoyed. One of the best Italian meals we had in the last 21days in Italy. Simple home-cooked delicious dishes...must try the Genovese Minestrone soup. The waiters were very attentive making sure every customer was quickly served. We will be back again.

I've just eaten here, attracted by the delicious looking display and the fact I could pick my food. It was full of Italians, always a good sign in my view, and it was cheap, fast and delicious. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, the dining room has no view, and the wine comes in chunky tumblers, but I personally... More

We decided on this little Trattoria that was located away from the tourist area for lunch on our one day visit to Santa Margherita. We were handed menus but that today's fresh lunch selections were written on the wall. We could use the menus for a description of each dish. We had heard that this area was renowned for it's... Old school family run trattoria with a daily menu on the board. Dishes were very well prepared, particularly the homemade pasta tossed in breadcrumbs, fried calamari, and tiramisu. Service was almost like eating as a guest in a home setting. It's a bit loud and crowded, but it all just adds to the ambience. This place is recommended. Book a... More

This family owned restaurant has been in business since 1964 and it's easy to see why. All the dishes are prepared by Papa (and Mama?) and are expertly done. We went there twice and were not disappointed either time. The son, Igor, spoke English and was very helpful in dealing with our many allergies and restrictions. One night hubby and... More

Ate at this family run establishment last year as it had traditional home cooked food, and enjoyed it. Went back in the evening that we arrived here in Santa Margherita this year, and were not quite as impressed. The minestrone was good, as were my husband's stuffed sardines. The socca, usually a highlight, was still delicious, but very oily. The... More
