Stopped by for an after dinner drink. The wait staff couldn't have been any more rude. There was no friendly greeting upon arrival. The bartender / server looked annoyed to see us, told us he was "too busy" and there was one table available (even though the restaurant was empty) and the table he offered had no view and was... Avoid Al Castello!!! The view/location is great but that's where any positives end. The staff was downright rude to us & even worse to each other - the bartender and waiter got in a yelling match at one point. Service was quite slow. The food was downright awful - our worst meal in Italy by far. We dubbed one of... More

We were fortunate to be pre booked at this restaurant. The seafood meals were fabulous and the position was quite unique.

On a very hot day, coming down from the castle, we stumbled on this place. Although we didn't eat here, they let us in to have drinks only on a little terrace reserved for that. The views were spectacular and we had no issue with the cheerful service or value.

Under the blue sky on top of a rock at sea, we had our diner with red wine. It is very romantic. The food was good, lots of marinara obviously, also pasta and rissoto. A bit expensive. The waiters were fun and nice, maybe not very polite but I don't mind that.

Short version: You are just paying for the view. That is truly it. Terrible, rude waiters. Food is mediocre at best. There's a reason this place is ranked 23 out of 25 restaurants in Vernazza. Walk two minutes elsewhere and get quality food AND a wonderful view! Longer version: Again, this place has an absolutely amazing view, but sadly that's... More

We went to this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel. That was a mistake. I agree with other reviewers that the view is spectacular - but this is the only positive of this restaurant. Pity, they could have done so much with this place, given the setting, but they take advantage of unsuspecting tourists instead. First off we had... More

This restaurant is accessed by incredibly steep steps via a narrow walkway. The payoff is quite possibly one of the best restaurant view I ever experienced. We arrived before dusk and were able to enjoy the view unobstructed until the wind required the staff to deploy clear (ish) plastic curtains to allow service on the hilltop outdoor patio location. We... More

The food is good -- not outstanding -- but definitely very enjoyable. The view is outstanding. The night we were in Vernazza, the trains went on strike and the whole staff of the restaurant helped us out with finding a taxi to La Spezia, which was incredibly difficult. We owe these people a lot! For that, 5 stars.
