How good was the food here? We were given free breakfast at our hotel but the croissants had lemon in them and tasted like they came from the supermarket. After an amazing dinner and dessert at Pirata we decided to ditch the free breakfast and to spend money on the fresh baked croissants here and it was well worth it.
We ended up eating most meals here. The pasta, fish, focaccia and desserts are amazin

We visited the restaurant for lunch after an exhausting walk from monterosso. This restaurant was all we could have hoped for, the staff were very friendly, the food was amazing and we were given complimentary dessert (the best panacotta you have tasted) and pastries. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!

I dined here over 10 years ago almost to the day and loved it and it did not disappoint the second and third times either. The owners are the same and have a great sense of humour.
We arrived for dinner (did not make a booking and we were lucky to get in). We had beautiful fresh pasta dishes which were absolutely delish, the staff were fabulous, attentive and friendly. The wine was good. What more could you ask for.
Breakfast before we left was equally good. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our dinner so much we came back for breakfast.
For dinner we had carpaccio with berata cheese that was so fresh and creamy you thought you went to heaven. That was followed by fried brazono (sea bass) and a calimari stew. Somehow we had room for dessert. How about the freshest chocolate canoli my wife has ever had? I had lemoncella.
I couldn't have the lemon sorbet because the chef felt it was too cold to be making it.
Breakfast almost topped dinner. My wife had the scrambled eggs (at least 3) and 5 pieces of bacon followed by a chocolate pastry. I had an apple pastry. The orange juice was freshly squeezed.
It is not on the piazza overlooking the harbor but more than makes up for it with quality of the food. And quiet except for the flowing stream.
Plus the owner clearly loves what he is doing.

The food is out of this world, prices are really reasonable, the cannoli is the number one cannoli I have ate in Italy since i've been here for 6 weeks.
My wife and I went to this place 10 years ago, it was so good then that we found it and went back. We ended up going back for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is ran by a family, 2 brothers, I believe a sister and other members. The brothers are especially warm, inviting and funny. the staff is also top notch. They all wanted to make sure you had no allergies or if you had special tastes. Friendly, and enjoyable. Make sure you get reservations as this place is busy and if you don't have reservations, they will try but you won't alway get in.
The prices are really reasonable and again all the food has that real Italian taste. You will not be disappointed

OK, so this may not have a view of the sea, but frankly we didn't need that, we wanted good food and friendly service.
All you have to do is walk a couple of minutes up the hill from the centre of Vernazza in the opposite direction from the station to the route all the tourists take and you stumble across a residential street with a couple of restaurants.
In September, it was still very hot, and we were delighted to find a seat outside with a bit of shade, watching the people walk by, and chatting to our fellow French and American diners on the tables next to us, the atmosphere was buzzing and while we deliberately turned up early just before mid-day to get a table without a reservation, it was very quickly packed out with guests, much like the rest of Vernazza, and it's easy to see why...
We had a linguini frutti di mare and a salmone alla griglia and both were cooked to perfection and very generous portion sizes. We shared a bottle of the local Lunae Vermentino Bianco which was a delight, and a perfect accompaniment to seafood dishes. We followed this up by sharing their tiramisu which was a yummy end to a lovely, relaxed meal with very good service. All in was 70 Euros for 2 people including the wine and service which we thought was incredible value for great food and a fabulous all round experience in a very popular tourist destination.
Overall, very highly recommended :-)

Il Pirata are no longer open in the evenings so based on the TA reviews we went to try their breakfast.
We ordered a two scrambled eggs & bacon breakfasts along with a couple of pastries from the selection available. The cooked breakfasts were not large for the 10 Euro price and when I paid at the till I was surprised how much we had been changed. There was no itemised bill, but the owner was such a lovely guy I didn't like to ask for a break-down. The pastries were good, but having said that we had a lot of wonderful pastries in the Cinque Terre so you can find similar elsewhere in town.
I'm told Il Pirata have a lot of returning customers and they were very busy while we were there, but unfortunately I'm not convinced we got value for money in our case.

Went away from the tourist infested road down to the harbour in the off chance that there may be something more than the many offering the same!
Found a table here and was blown away from that moment. The lovely lady Maitre D’ seemed to be able to speak to every nationality of customer AND keep everyone happy at the same time.
My meal, and everyone’s that I saw, was beautifully presented and an incredible example of what can be done with a decent chef and great ingredients.
I had the pasta with clams and calamari which came with small octopus as well. I love clams but these were the next level of freshness and cooking! The fish was perfection as a whole leaving me wiping the dish with bread so as not to leave an iota.
I heard that desert choice included cannoli and always wanted to try one since I have seen them on US tv programmes. Another guest ordered one and it was huge so settled for a panacotta - which was equally huge and delicious!
I am sorry I am not staying in Vernazza as there were so many dishes that I saw that I want to try and, if anything were to bring me back here, this place is about the only thing!!

Tucked away from the hussle & bustle of the harbour and just a short walk through the village you will find this fantastic restaurant. The excellent & knowledgeable staff make you feel so welcome on arrival and recommend the finest of dishes made with the freshest ingredients. A must visit if you visit Vernazza. 5 star !

The owner is a character with a great sense of humor who really takes pride in his offerings. We had an outstanding dinner that impressed us enough that we went back for breakfast. He makes everything there like his pasta and his morning pastries are wonderful.

The food here was perfection. Over two visits my girlfriend and I tried the clam linguini, the risotto, and the pesto gnocchi. All three dishes were the best in their respective types, hands down. The service is out of this world! The owner/manager of the restaurant is an amazing personality who’s very kid and accommodating to all people and diets. He will make your experience amazing in addition to the food! Him and his brother (the chef I believe) are very down to earth and love hosting all guests.
Go here! It’s a must do activity in Cinque Terre
Also, I posted their signature dessert here. Delicious and gourmet! Even the bread at this restaurant is great

Lovely breakfast cafe if staying in Vernazza. We went there every morning for the coffee and freshly made pastries. The staff are really friendly. The view of a car park doesn’t matter when you’ve got great food to eat.

We were told of this spot by several travelers and it did not disappoint. We stopped for breakfast which included omelets, bacon, pastry and freshly squeezed orange juice. The entire meal was delicious and the staff is very friendly. The location is at the top of the hill in Vernazza next to a small laundromat. I highly recommend!

Went to Il Pirata twice during out stay in Vernazza. Our first stop was late in the afternoon when the restaurant was closing for the day, however, they were more than willing to keep their kitchen open for us. The food was great! We also stopped in there for breakfast and the pastries were amazing!! Owner was extremely welcoming and friendly! Do not hesitate to check this gem out!

My husband and I just spent 3 nights in Vernazza. My appetite has never been greater than in this region and we were rewarded with the most delicious hot breakfast and cappuccino at Il Pirata. They serve a delicious hot bacon and eggs and yummy pastries. Each morning I ate the ricotta stuffed croissant with pistachio cream on top and it was one of the highlights of my trip. The owners and waitresses were of the warmest we met during our entire Italy trip. To get there just walk under the train station and small incline to the last little spot on the right.
