We booked reservations for this restaurant for a special dinner during our honeymoon to the Cinque Terre based on the reviews here and from many travel books; we were not disappointed. We actually met Billy the night before as he was our boat captain for our sunset cruise (see my review of 5 Terre Pelagos Boat tour). He remembered us from the cruise the night before and treated us to the best table in the restaurant; on the balcony in the corner overlooking the sea and the town. He made us a special tasting plate of locally picked mushrooms, which was delectable. Our waiter was personable, funny, very attentive and helpful with recommendations. Each course we had tasted fresh and homemade. The food was remarkable; each dish was as good or better than the one before. NOTE: highly recommend making reservations and be early; they only hold the reservation for 10 minutes.

I only eat in "Trattoria" restaurants when I'm anywhere in Italy so Trattoria dal Billy was an obvious choice. To get to it from the Marina was a bit of a trek up the long chain of stairs but the quality of food and politeness of the staff was second to none, however Tiramisu dessert was better in Pisa. Comparing to other restaurants in Manarola prices are really good and affordable with cover charge set up at comfortable €2.5 pp. Overall it's a really good place to relax watching beautiful sunset over the sea.

Make a reservation way in advance or else miss out on this absolute gem of a restaurant! Tucked up in the hills of Manarola, we arrived super sweaty and exhausted from the heat only to find out there weren't any tables left. Luckily, some diners left the restaurant early and the host was able to seat us! We had one of the specials of the day, crab pasta for 2 people. It was so delicious and perfect. The tomato sauce was so good and the crab was very fresh. We were able to watch the sunset from our table and our server was very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place to eat, especially if you are a couple!

We had a brief stay in Manarola and ended up eating in Billy’s every night. We stayed at La Torretta Lodge ( also a great place ) and they recommended Billy’s Usually wary about hotel recommendations we tried it without any great expectations but it was really top notch. Food , service , location , atmosphere were all amazing . The view down the valley to the sea was memorable. We regularly visit this area of Italy and may well come back to Manarola just to visit Billy’s and the Torretta Lodge

Fresh seafood and I’ve never seen so much roe on a lobster pasta . Serves a whole lobster for 2 servings of pasta at a reasonable price of 50euros. Tiramisu is average but Truly one of the nicest Pana cotta we have ever tried.

Wonderful restaurant! We went twice during our stay in Manarola and sat on the terrace with lovely views of the sunset. The dishes were delicious - shrimp pasta, cuttlefish pasta and pesto pasta. The desserts were also lovely - especially the panna cotta. They had a tuna tartare special antipasti which I definitely recommend also. Give them a call to book a table in advance, especially if you want to sit outside, because it gets very busy.

We thought we were so lucky to get a table and we had high expectations for a great evening. (Should you want to eat here booking is essential during the holiday season.) The view is spectacular so when we were seated we were looking forward to a lovely meal after a long day of walking (we had also seen the queues waiting for a table each night so thought it must be good). The service was fine, although rather rushed but that wasn't a problem, the food however was. Our starters were fine but our shared crab pasta was quite awful. To say the chef had been slightly heavy handed with the salt was an understatement whilst the pasta wasn't cooked well either. We couldn't eat it and when we called a waiter over to let him know he was very dismissive and took the dishes away with not even an apology. A short while later another waiter came over to apologise and informed us that the kitchen realised there was a problem with the meal and they would not be charging us. In our opinion they seem to be trying to serve too many people in a short a period of time as possible. Not a good experience for us which was a great shame as it quite spoilt that evening of our holiday.

I very much enjoyed my dinner at Tratoria Dal Billy. I recommend making a reservation, as they were busy. The service and food was excellent. I was seated right away near a window overlooking a magnificent view and was treated very kindly by the staff. Bread was tasty, and my seafood pasta dish was expertly prepared. Clams were perfect. The house wine was very good and reasonably priced.

In the residential area at the top of town, so the views are spectacular. Menu is nearly 100% seafood, mostly fresh. I found the food a bit salty, both in taste and price. My main complaint was the 12-part seafood appetizer. All 12 dishes came out at one time, both hot and cold. They tell you what each dish is but you can’t remember them all, and the hot dishes aren’t very hot by the time you get to the last ones.

While spending the weekend in Manarola, my friend took us for dinner at Trattoria Dal Billy. First of all, you better reserved as this place got fully booked easily. We were a group of 5 people and the tables in the garden were all booked. We were inside in the main dining room but with an amazing view. It was like being in the cabin of a boat. 360° view. We shared the antipasto (mixed fish starter) both warm and cold food. It was excellent. We then opted for a big baked fish with potatoes. OMG, it was divine and so fresh. Portions are generous and we were so full after that we could not even have any dessert. The staff is pleasant and efficient. The view is just magical.

We were really looking forward to our visit to this restaurant but were let down by this meal. Having travelled Italy for 10 days and eaten at several restaurants, this was the only meal that we felt we shouldn't have bothered with. The view was beautiful but we felt rushed. We had booked a table the day before, knowing that this restaurant in particular gets booked up quickly. When we arrived, our name tag wasn't on any of the tables and the staff just put us on a table that we guessed had just been a "walk in table". Both myself and my partner ordered the same pasta and this came on a large dish, "pasta for 2". This was delicious, however, the portion size was very small and we are not massive eaters. We had a look at the dessert menu and both decided that we would just go down into the village centre and get an ice-cream instead. As we were finishing our water, couples were stood on the steps, 5m away from where we were sitting, watching for when there was a free table. We felt incredibly rushed and although we had our table until 9pm. we left at 8pm. We wished the restaurant kept customers waiting for a table outside the restaurant so that diners didn't feel rushed. We won't be rushing back to this restaurant in a hurry.

All I can say is this is the place to be! What a setting, I was greeted by Enrico who is leading the kitchen and then Leo who looked after me for 2 nights. Nothing was ever a trouble and the food was always delicious and well presented. This personifies, simple food but the finest ingredients cooked to its best (or not not cooked in the case of the carpaccio!). Grazie regazzi, Ian x

Had a reservation bit late but we still managed to get a table. Service was good . The food I had was okay, not what I expected as I read a lot of good reviews . I had pasta with swordfish and truffle, it’s a simple dish, nothing special, and I didn’t taste any truffle from my dish, that’s why I only give 4stars. My boyfriend had tuna fillet, it was good, missing some veggies. We ordered grilled veggies in addition, were disappointed, it was I -+5 grilled vegetable for 5€.

What an amazing view we had from our table on the terrace. The service was fantastic, as was the wine. Most of the food was fantastic, but we were steered to order a large fresh fish caught that day for the table. The appetizers and pastas that came before were fabulous, and I wish we'd just ordered the mains from the menu instead of sharing that huge fish. It was a little overcooked, and just didn't impress. But, their tiramisu is to die for -- whipped marscapone and one of the best I've ever tasted.

Perfect for couples - you hike up Manarola a bit into the town like 300 steps. Outside tables have great view of ocean and town….very worth. Get the seafood starter sampler for 2 - it’s 40 euro but you get 12 different seafood dishes, all very different and very good. For entree, the pasta portions are MASSIVE so you can just share one - we got black squid ink with a bunch of seafood which was fantastic. Really great place
