Very casual and local eatery, great for any time of the day. It is famous for the sausages, sauerkraut, russian salad and cold cuts. I especially recommend Itailan salami and big pork sausages. Don't look for a selection of wine list or fancy attitude. We have ordered several items from the menu and beer, and left the restaurant hoping we... More

There is not a big choice, so if you do not like meat it is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you like meat you must go here at least once while in Trieste. It is amazing. The sandwich is small, so try to avoid it.

We enjoyed a pleasant meal of steamed meats in this friendly and informal cafe. It is not a buffet in the usual sense since you just tell your waiter what kind of meats you want and he brings them to you. It is the perfect contrast to abundant Italian seafood restaurants in Trieste. Many locals dine here and meat selection... More

We did a stop for eat something and we choose that small place. Was much better than I though. The options of meat is quite generous and the staffs there are nice and friendly. Worth the money do a stop to recover energy and continue visiting the city. Un abrazo amigo!

There's no mystery to this place - it has hardly changed over the years. Same menu, same tables and chairs. Same management. But, portions seem to have shrunk a bit. Quality ain't what it was. And prices keep rising. Some (boiled) meets were fine. Some just OK. And some not OK. Pickled cabbage was overcooked and nor freshly prepared. Will... More

This restaurant hearkens back to Austrian era cooking. Hearty plates, groan with sausage - even the plates are made to look like a pig. If you like lots of meat then this is the place for you. Busy and queues form early in the evening. Not so many tables inside, so if it's raining get there in good time.

The place is iconic in Trieste and is one of the places anybody visiting or living in Trieste should go to at least once. It's basically a fast-food as it was intended in 1800. A must try is "porcina": boiled pork neck -sliced and served with grated horseradish and mustard- that is amongst Trieste's most authentic foods.

Surprisingly, the restaurant offers typical Austrian and German dishes on a very high standard of quality. The veal tonge with sauerkraut has been the best I have eaten for a long time.

Prefacing this with the fact that I am a pescatarian (a fish-eating vegetarian.) My carnivorous spouse loved this restaurant. It was recommended by an Italian friend. He wasn't sure what he ordered but when the platter came it was covered in boiled meats. Corned beef, ham, sausages. It can all be covered with freshly grated horseradish if you ask. There... More
