We ordered various pasta dishes and gnocco fritta and they were all superb. The pumpkin gnocchi could have tasted more like pumpkin, but it was good regardless. The service was great and considering that we had a lot of different allergies in our group, they accommodated to those excellently.

We went to this typical Italian restaurant tonight, the setting of the restaurant is beautiful, located in a nice place. The waitress was really nice, she taught us some Italian words. The food is amazing, you must try if you are in Parma. Thank you.

Our friends from Italy did all the ordering for 9 of us. We had the typical meat platter from Italy with gorgonzola cheese and torta fritta. It was all delicious. We also had tortellini with mushrooms and another with ricotta. All the different wines were Italian and very reasonably priced.

Fantastic food. Wonderful atmosphere. It's surely worth a visit. Or even more than one. Highly recommended. It would be perfect if the guy at the check out smiled a little.

Fantastic menu. We were 6 in our group of very picky and demanding eaters. We all loved our orders. The rabbit dish was phenomenal, the torta fritta was outstanding, the risotto with truffles was great, etc. Very impressive cuisine offerings. Sevice was just perfect. Welcoming and warm atmosphere without being fake. Loved that it is a trattoria for the locals who know of quality local food. Not touristy at all.

In Agust it can be difficult to find restaurants open in this area. Fortunately the owner of the Agriturismo found Il Grillo. It is a very busy popular restaurant where people queue for the table. The menu is very regional - we needed the help of a very friendly waiter to explain parts if it. The speciality is the torta fritta - pillows of fried pastry (not a drop of grease) which are eaten with large amounts of prosciutto, salami and ham - fantastic. BTW this is not a region for the vegetarian. There was also a starter of thin slices of cooked veal topped with pear slices and walnuts. The main courses meats are of the highest quality - lamb, rabbit etc.The pasta cannot be faulted. The desserts are also impressive - the carpaccio of pineapple is pretty - look at the website - the chocolate fondant pudding and apple cake are homemade. The whole experience was so good we booked to return two nights later and were still impressed.

We were recommended to come here by the owner of the Agriturismo we were staying in and we enjoyed it so much, we returned a second time. As others have pointed out, the Torta Fritta is superb - the best we tasted during our time here. It was light and not at all greasy. My friends enjoyed the hams and salamis, but not eating pork, I chose the veal, pear Parmesan and walnut starter - fantastic. The quality of the ingredients really stands out. We all enjoyed our main courses, but the desserts were amazing - especially the pineapple and icecream. The place was busy mid week, and I can see why. The service was friendly and good and the staff were patient with our attempts at Italian. Loved it!

Once again I'm here for lunch and not yet finished. This trattoria is really worth a visit. Paolo, the owner, is really a 'fanatic' of highest quality, traditional, Italian food. And I am myself a fanatic Italian for food! He chooses the best Parma Ham, incredibly good as everything else! I will keep visiting this restaurant every time I come to Parma!

Very good, typical food of Parma. The owner is a very passionate person of high quality food and very selective in his choice of Parma ham. I will definitely come back! Fair price.

Haven't been here in years but it's still one of the best places to have torta fritta and prosciutto and of course other cold cut variations ... this time I also had a tris of tortelli which was very good!! Staff is really friendly and the food is always fresh. I definitely recommend this restaurant even if it's outside of Parma in a small village! It's worth the 20min drive .

If this is what the real Italy is like its time for me to move. We visited as a group of 40 on a fixed menu so I was a little cautious as there was no choice need not have panicked. First course was cheese tortellini and a s light as a feather, second a mushroom and beef ravioli again sublime followed by a risotto and mixed cured meats and bread pillows best food I have had in a long time

Family friendly nice restaurant that serves typical Parmesan cuisine. Crowded on Sunday noons. We enjoyed the "torta fritta" with salumi, the tortellis, as well as the meat dishes, like the "stinco" and the "bracioline di agnello". Would certainly go there again.

Well, particularly in the Emilia region it is very difficult to fault food quality, anywhere, and this place is no exception. I've been told that their traditional torta fritta must be among the best in the region - and can personally confirm this. We had an antipasto consisting of a mixed salumi platter, and tris the tortelli as a main. All was absolutely delicious with an excellent value for money. Service on the other hand lacks or tends to be a bit rough and unattentive. Perhaps it must be due to the fact that the place tends to get very crowded, despite being a weekday. Atmosphere inside is rustic and very traditional. Considering everything I would still recommend the trattoria del grillo anytime.

Ok, let's put it that way: everywhere else in Europe the food would deserve at least 4 ****. But we are talking about Parma, therefore the whole experience was just average ;-) We were here for New Year's Eve, the place was recommended by our Agriturismo. The place is very large and lacks a bit of personnality and atmosphere. The service was friendly enough, but way too fast for the amount of food we ordered, which would have required a bit more time to 'digest'. Additionally, we finished far before midnight, which left us the odd choice to go back to the Agriturismo or hang around in a crowded place for another hour waiting for 2014... we picked the 1st option. The food was actually very good and the portions (even the half ones) more than satisfying: gnocco fritto (very good) and tomino with tartufo sauce (very good, but sauce cold). 1st courses: tris di tortelli (excellent), risotto al tartufo (very good but a bit al dente), tagliatelle al cinghiale... As seconds, culatello arrosto (good, but very heavy sauce), tartare (excellent), punta ripiena (very good), rabbit (also good)... nobody made it to desserts except the little brother and I. So, all in all we were happy, but felt the need to try something else the following day...
