We love Trattoria il Fantino! This little restaurant seems like a local favorite seeing that it's always full of people eating and laughing. The food is very moderately priced and isn't some tourist trap. The food is simple, but rich in flavor and the staff is generous with their knowledge and service. Get the ribs. Delicious and fall off the... More

Excellent meal here, if you're looking for a REAL italian meal go here. there's no "chicken parm" or stuff like that, just real italian dishes, with a local flavor. for example, we had a chicken dish that was made with balsamic vinegar that Modena is famous for. The staff is very friendly too, and we had a lovely time. At... More

This was the best meal we had on our 18 day trip to Italy. We were traveling from Lake Como to Florence and planned on stopping in Modena for lunch because of the incredible food in the region. I found this by chance and although we did not have a reservation, they were able to fit us in before lunch... More

I have bin here for lunch, i ate, Strozzapreti con funghi porcini e speck after Le sorbarette and for last the Millefoglie, all with a bottle of Lambrusco to bring it down. The food was amazing from the primi until the last bite of the dolce it was absolutely well worth to come here. The food falls under typical regional... More

What a meal... This restaurant is worth a detour and a quick drop-by in Modena. Nothing fancy, this place looks like a very neat mom and pop Italian restaurant which is frequented by both locals and tourists (thanks to TripAdvisor) and serves truly delicious Italian food. Their pastas are out of this world. Friendly staff and great service.

This place is packed with mainly Italian families. It is very noisy and very hot despite 2 air conditioning units. That's the only down side. The food is simple but good. I had the specialty of the city, meats, cheese, a kind of meat paste, spare ribs, roasted potatoes, 2 different types of bread.Far too much for one person. The waiter... More

We actually went here based on the reviews on TripAdvisor (we'd never have found it otherwise - you don't just stumble upon it). The restaurant is cozy and the staff if super friendly. However we both felt like the menu were kinda small. There weren't that many dishes to choose from. The food was alright, but not mind blowing. It... More

Fantastic atmosphere, great crowd and friendly staff. The food is very basic. The best was the cheese, spinach and herbs tortellini. The pasta and the balsamico chicken nuggets were OK, but lacked sophistication.

After 3 days of eating as much quality Italian food as possible we had 2 hours left to find and eat some home cooked style dishes. The hugely helpful lady at emilia design suit apartments reserved us a table at Trattoria ll Fantino. It's just off the main shopping street and easy to find. We were in a rush but... More

Continuing on our 2 week European road trip, we just wanted simple local food, and we were lucky to find this place. For me, this is the best pasta I had in Italy so far. I chose the tortellini with ricotta and spinach, my girlfriend chose the gnocchi with sausage and pumpkin. They were both exceptional, suffice to say I'd... More
