Had a birthday reunion. The service was hostile at the bar. Price for the "tagliere" is expensive for the quantity and quality of each serving. Cashier took advantage of confusion when paying to charge extra for the table, and was not willing to reason. Will...not be coming back.More

Located in the center of Bologna, very close to Mercato dell' Erbe, it's one of the best bars for Aperitivo. We also enjoyed our drinks on a Friday night. Very good Pignoletto and reasonable prices.

This is a great bar with terrific hosts ( please don't use the word 'deaf mute' - it is deeply offensive). They provide great service - and they also happen to be profoundly Deaf and use Italian sign language (ISL). The venue is adorned with...images of signs and a focus on Deaf culture. My son uses British Sign Language (BSL) which is different, but after some adjustment he soon worked out some Italian signs and got on just fine. The Italian/Bolognese Deaf community made him so welcome. It also made a nice change to see people trying to sign with the staff and wanting to engage and learn a bit of sign language. The staff were exceedingly patient. There was a lovely, warm, friendly atmosphere. Lots of room inside and a place to sit outside as well. As well as drinks, they serve cheap wholesome (basic) food after 7.30pm - you pay 2 euros at the bar, get a small plate, queue and you can then refill your plate when you wish (as long as food is available.) I noticed that a lot of is is based on trust, but no one seemed to abuse that trust (although some people did go back and forth quite a bit.) A great selection of drinks and a youthful crowd (I must have been the oldest there), most of whom were hearing. We happened to be staying in the same building by sheer coincidence and were down every night. It gets incredibly busy, but no one was put under pressure to leave. Apparently they do good cocktails.More

This bar is now the center of Bologna youthful nightlife. The place is run by people with disabilities (especially deaf ones), which is a unique feature for a bar in town. They also propose alternatives and cultural activities such as exhibitions, concerts, courses. Cozy and...well furnished, it allows you to enjoy the street life outside.More

We lived next door to this bar and spent most of our evenings around there. As the weather was fine we were sitting outside, watching a lot of local students hanging out there. But its absolutly worth going inside the bar! The waiters are all...deaf and the decoration is dedicated to deaf culture. There are a lot of fotos and pictures that show italien signs, small cards show you the signs which help you to order a beer or other drinks. As in most of the students bars its a self service and you can also take chips or peanuts for free. The atmosphere was really chilled and relaxed. The prices for drinks are moderat (aperol spritz 4,5€). We highly recommend going there!More

This is a deaf bar run by deaf staff and it's a great busy little place at the back of the 'Mercado del Erbe' market. I had very basic sign so ordered some beers but there is a wall of drink coupons in English to...help you order. Lovely chatty atmosphere with some deaf culture themed decor and you can grab yourself some snacks for free at the bar. Lots of tables outside and it gets busy at night. Great bar and the bar next door is excellent. Worth a pop in especially if you plan to visit the market opposite.More

In front of the Spice Market (Mercato delle Erbe), this café is run by a community of deaf-mute young people. Cosy, great cakes, warm atmosphere, good coffee, wifi and good music. I had seen a similar place (Reaching out café') in Oi'an (Vietnam) and loved...it as well. A place different from others in an authentic corner of Bologna, 10 minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. Worth a stop to combine it with Mercato delle Erbe and Saint Francis.More
