I came here 10 years ago and found Osteria Brocaindosso the best restaurant and meals Ive ever had. Against the popular opinion that you should never come back to a place you’ve had a great experience at, I travelled to Bologna with my partner for...my birthday, specifically to eat here. I booked a table weeks in advance and specifically requested one outside, which was agreed to, especially as I don’t have the ‘green pass’ to eat indoors anyway. I arrived with my partner and although 2 tables were available outside, and stayed available throughout our meal, we were told we had to eat inside. No green pass was asked. I was too upset to eat anything, had some vegetables and left with tears in my eyes. It’s a nice place but clearly locals or larger a groups of tourists are attended to with greater priority. What a total disappointment.More

We had a traditional Italian dinner with a wonderful wine. The staff treated us as if we were special guests. The restaurant was full but still had great service. Food was delicious. One of the highlights of our trip to Bologna.

We went for dinner here as our hotel recommended this place. And surely we weren't disappointed! Food was really good especially the tiramisu is the best I've ever tasted. Prices are more than fair and the staff is super nice! I'll happily recommend this restaurant...to anybody coming to Bologna!!More

Omg. This restaurant. It just brings me so much joy! I’ve been so many times before but this time I came gluten free...and it didn’t disappoint. The ragu was completely amazing and I couldn’t even tell the pasta was gluten free. The best I’ve had...anywhere. Oh and the gluten free cake was incredible too. Sigh. Please come here. You won’t regret it.More

We had the most delicious dinner and excellent house wine. Try the mixed pasta starter - great portions and some of the best we had. Also when I could not decide on a Secondi he recommended the Parmigana and then brought up both a taster...of the beef carpaccio too! Tasty and large ensalata too. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Worth seeking out.More

Really enjoyed the tagliatelle al ragu. Good portion size and very tasty. Service wasn't outstanding, but efficient and polite.

No complaints with the food which was typical trattoria fare, but had the impression from the moment we walked in that the staff were doing us a favour. We arrived at 7.30pm and were immediately told that we had to be out by 8.45pm. Consequently...the food was rushed with little or no time between courses, although the restaurant was no more than half full when we left. This is very unusual for an Italian restaurant where usually the staff are very welcoming and want you to enjoy your experience. We would not eat there again.More

We chose this simple place for our first evening in Bologna knowing that it was fairly basic but quite typical of the region and were not disappointed. You would not under any circumstance accuse this restaurant of providing find dining, but what is does do...is provide hearty comfort food at incredibly reasonable prices. Our bottle of sangiovese was €22, my delicious tortelloni with butter and sage was €12 and my wife's tagliatelle al ragu was €10. With a bottle of water, a mixed salad, some grilled vegetables, one amazing tiramisu to share and coffee the final bill was €66! The restaurant is located 10-15 minutes east of Piazza Maggiore but the walk is easy and scenic through the university district. Highly recommended.More

Away from the centre and you have to ring the bell to get in, but everyone who appreciates good Bolognese food and its great atmosphere knows about it. The couvert, consisting of anything up to a dozen dishes, is an event in itself - then...you have the excellent cotolettas and tagliate and if you can manage it, another cornucopia of desserts.More

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Bologna! I spent a semester abroad in the city and I always took guests here for authentic Bolognese cuisine. The taglietelle al ragu is to die for, as well as the tortellini in brodo. Incredible and authentic...ambiance as well.More
