We are staying in the hotel just up the street, and wanted somewhere local to eat after a long day travelling to Bologna. What a lucky find the Al Sangiovese was, we were looked after like long lost family members and fed so heartily, on delightful local food, that desserts had to be shared. A wonder Bolognese experience from fabulous... More

We were staying at the next door hotel San Mamolo and this restaurant was recommended by Elisa there. Very glad she did, the owner, Antonella, squeezed us in although we hadn't booked. She was lovely as was the food. Go for the tortelloni and then steak. We wanted to say thank you afterwards, so Rocco (Antonella's husband) came out and... More

We arrived early without reservations and since it was extremely hot we requested a table inside. We were abruptly directed to a table in the corner by a gentlemen who we assumed was the owner. The interaction was actually uncomfortable and felt awkward. All that changed when the woman waiting on us (who we later discovered was also the owner)... More

This restaurant was next to our hotel (Hotel Porta San Manolo). We had lunch the day we arrived, and went back for dinner the following evening. I loved the melon and prosciutto for lunch: the melon was cold and perfectly ripe, and the prosciutto was delicious. The next night we had a wonderful dinner. A special highlight was the chicken... Our first night in Bologna and maybe we should have shared our antipasto as we ordered far too much, in fairness we were told not to order a 'secondo'. To start with we ordered an antipasto each - cheese (various), figs and ham this was really tasty but I was full after that! other half had Mortedella and Parmesan again... More

We went on the off-chance and were lucky to get a table outside. What lovely lovely people. Delicious food and regional specialities. The lady of the house served us and had cooked all the desserts - we ordered four (four of us!) and loved all of them. The red Sangiovese wine by the glass was unbelievably good. Definitely recommend.

A local recommended this lovely little family-run restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The antipasto was good and the tagliatelle bolognese was excellent. Not the cheapest restaurant in Bologna but great friendly service and a lovely restaurant!

We had been recommended this restaurant and so turned up at opening time on a Saturday at the end of May. Very helpful owner but they were fully booked.

Restaurant recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at. Nice place, good food, friendly service provided by proprietors. Very popular place with plenty of buzz. A good choice
