If you are looking for the classics of Bolognese cuisine this is your place. We had the tortelloni, the gramigna, the taglioline with prosciutto and the Cotaletto alla Bolognese. I had the gramigna, which is served in a sausage ragu. It was probably top one or two pasta dishes on this trip. Very flavorful, savory and delicious. The cotaletto was... More

My husband and I came here for lunch based on reviews online. Boy, are we glad we did! I had the Tortellini Estate which was tortellini with a pureed pea and roasted red pepper sauce. To say it was to die for is an understatement! I almost licked the plate it was so good! My husband had the Tagliatelle con... More

My wife and I had eaten here before on a prior trip (dinner) and it was fantastic. We were in the area w/ friends so made a reservation for lunch. Kitchen was supposed to close at 230. We were slightly late and arrived at 140 vs 130. Server let us know kitchen was closing at 200 so we needed to... More

Each time that we come to Bologna we hope to eat here, at this little trattoria located down an alley very close to the main piazza. Great food, nice wine list. Enjoyable as always.

We decided to try this place after filtering through the good and bad reviews. Everything from start to finish was perfect. The waiter was professional and friendly and helped guide us to make choices which would improve our night. The prosciutto and melon appertiser was the best we'd had with the prosciutto just melting under the knife. Both our main... More

We have been recommended this restaurant by a local waiter. We felt lucky when we found a table for two thus the restaurant was fully booked. There were only one waitress speaking English so she helped us. She was angry and unpolite with us. After a while we affraid to ask additional parmesan cheese for our pasta !!! She was... More

I always hesitate to recommend - or not - a place after only one visit (unless it's horrible) but it's kind of "Gianni"'s fault that we have visited it only once (we planned to do this twice - explanation below), so... Trattoria Gianni was second recommendation from our host, who proved himself most relailable. For an appetizer, we (me and... More

We chose this place for lunch on a day trip to Bologna and were very pleased we chose it.The service was excellent and the staff very helpful. The ragu sauce either with gnocchi or tagliatelli was delicious. Much more meat flavoured and less tomato based than Bolognese sauces in Britain or the U.S. we followed this with amazing agnello al... More

Visited a few weeks ago for dinner. The service was awful. Very slow from the beginning (waitress forgot our water) right to the end (an Italian couple who came in long after us, and had the same as us, were eating dessert while we were still waiting for our main courses; draw your own conclusions). The young waiters (a man... More

Unpretentious comments Lane and old-fashioned. Most wonderful home-made pastors. Try the handmade aubergine Gnochietti, or there are made tortellini. In a four day trip, we went twice. The home made bait Lizann yeah was particularly good. As a starter, try the absolutely first rate, ham and sweet orange melon. The puddings are also marvellous. This seems to be a family... More
