For those looking to experience what generations of travelers have been talking about, the food at Trattoria Di Gianni is the epitome of why Bologna sits at the epicenter of culinary fantasies among the cognoscenti. The stalwart/staple dishes you’ll find on most menus are executed...with traditional discipline, while imaginative specials offer a glimpse into the genius of the kitchen. Simple, understated and friendly, this humble restaurant should be proud of their unwavering commitment to their clientele. This is our second visit in two years and, while lightning rarely strikes twice, word among locals is that it’s always this satisfying. Even in the aftermath (hopefully) of the pandemic, the commitment to quality and authenticity here remains as steadfast as ever. Bravissimo!More

Great local traditional food in central Bologna. I had some deliciuos home made tortellini and fresh meat. Good bread basket. Good wine. I will go back and recommend. Attentive service.

Delicious ragu. A bit of a somber place but worth a visit as the food is the thing. Two people from the region recommended this restaurant or we would not have known.

Went for lunch. Locals recommended this place to us. We wanted a delicious pasta dish. We were not disappointed. I had the artichoke lasagne and my husband had tagliatelle with fresh tomatoes. Simple and stunning. We had a side of roasted seasonal vegetables and a...side of spinach with sprinkled parmesan. All was divine. Highly recommended.More

Went here to spend the night in Bologna, excited and was keen to experience what this restaurant has to offer. To my great dismay, the blonde girl who greeted us with devastation felt it was like the end of the world. Yes, I am Asian...but felt like in a different world because of her actions and words towards me. So I then asked her, "was I welcome in the restaurant still?" but she never paid heed and continued on with her business. Terrible. Worst. Nightmare. Ever I could imagine. I am cultured and grew up with breeding so I stayed until the last dish. This won't happen again to me and my family, I swear!More

We were (un)welcomed upon entering the restaurant. Given that the place was highly recommended, we expected good food and even better service. Unfortunately, we were horribly treated, and we saw the apparent distinction of service between us and the tables around us. The unkind and...rude treatment of the blonde waitress overshadowed any good quality dishes Da Gianni might have served us. All I could remember was the rude and discriminating treatment the lady waitress showed us. What a waste of time and money it was! Mind me, we spent €170 for a dinner for two and even ordered a bottle of Barolo! So disappointed with the service.More

My husband and I had a fabulous lunch at Trattoria Gianni. I had a really excellent tagliatelle al ragu bolognese, but the star of the show was my husband's bollito misto. It was superb! The service was excellent and friendly. I highly recommend them.
