This restaurant is different from most in Bologna. It does serve traditional dishes, but with a fine dinning twist. The tasting menu designed to showcase these dishes is outstanding. The whole meal is well balanced, the dishes clearly differentiated and both the cooking and the...presentation of a very high standard. It is well worth the Euro 115 price. We chose the wine pairings. These were each appropriate for the dish in question. The tables are well spaced and service is professional, but friendly. All in all, an outstanding experience.More

This was one the finest dining experiences we have ever had. The intimacy of restaurant, the stunning ceiling and a world class staff, set the stage for delightful tour of Bolognese cuisine at its finest. Each course was magnificent and the wine pairings, divine. Truly...such a special place, staffed by culinary artisans. I didn't want the evening to end and was sad when it did. What a joyful experience!More

We booked I Carracci a few weeks before arriving for a 3 day visit to Bologna. We were delighted to enjoy a really first class dining experience. The lunch, celebrating a birthday, was in fact one of the highlights of our visit to Bologna. The...dining room is gorgeous, with pleasant frescoes on the ceiling and wonderfully sound-absorbing golden tapestry-style wallpaper - in fact one of the best things about eating here was being able to hold a conversation without fear of being drowned out by a cacophonous chatter (so often a feature of modern restaurants). The restaurant was well-patronised the day we were there but the tables were well-spaced so that it felt quite private at the same time. Contributing to that feeling was the very sincere attentiveness shown my wife and I by the excellent waitstaff. I welcomed in particular their advice on delicious wines, by the glass, to match my choices for entree, main and dessert. The staff also were happy to converse with us in Italian which we appreciated greatly (so often in Italy now staff at shops and restaurants speak in English at the first sign of hesitancy in speaking Italian!). The food was very good, particularly dessert. This restaurant is the whole package - quite pricey but worth every cent.More

This was the most wonderful experience in dining. The food was incredible, the service exceptional and the prices were agreeable. They even brought a stool over for my purse. There was no language barrier as their English was very good, much better than my Italian....If we weren't leaving Bologna tomorrow, I am sure we would return.More

The dining room at I Carracci is beautiful under a Renaissance ceiling painted by the Carracci brothers in the late 16th century, contemporary and friends with Guido Reni, Bologna’s most famous artist. The restaurant staff was welcoming and made every effort to please throughout our...evening. They engage easily in conversation. The attentive head waiter worked out a wine pairing for my wife featuring sparkling wines. They very nicely offer a three wine or five wine pairing. Our five-course, three-hour dinner, executive chef Guglielmo Araldi’s “Twists” tasting menu, was delicious and beautifully presented. I especially liked the Red Prawn carpaccio with almond, passion fruit, and caviar, the pumpkin tortello with red mullet, and the beef tenderloin with fois gras, pomegranate, pistachio, and chestnut. Michelin rates them as Bib Gourmand, but we have no doubt they will be awarded a star given their trajectory, the impeccable service, beautiful décor, and inviting presentations of very tasty offerings. We think for the level of service and quality of the food our meal was a very good value, and an absolute highlight of our trip to Emilia-Romagna.More

We ate there as ofter lately, due to work in Bologna. As said Bologna lacks a LOT of features of a big city (bad transports, embarrassing taxi services, dirty, and with ONLY one starred restaurant ... compared to RM or MI.. is a shame...) anyway..."I Carracci" is the only serious alternative to I Portici (starred). So we alternate both. Location is amazing, (see photos) and personnel is smart and efficient, in particular we did appreciate the young sommelier that gave a nice advice abut a french white wine of a very little producer. Top. We went for some pasta ("bottoni") and meat, with foie gras. All meals are of high level and presented very well. at the end there usual petite patisserie.More

So let’s clear a few thing first : 1) the ceiling of the restaurant by itself deserves to come here. 2) if you go for tastings, you could find the food minimalistic in proportion, especially in Italy. So now we have cleared the air, let’s...talk about food and services : well it is amazing and playful. Very serious and laidback team, and the menu is confident enough to let you play you with the flavors, in a very discret fireworks.More
