We had a good walk round Urbino early on looking for somewhere to eat later. In the evening, a lively bar spills out from under this restaurant which is on the first floor-entrance just around the corner off the main drag. Up a few stairs...the automatic door invites you in and prompt attention from a family member seats you at a table with clean white linen. It was a welcome sight after the tables of take-away/instant food out on the street. There were several other diners, but none too close, and this was an oasis of peace after the bustling streets. We were given an attractively set out menu plus another one as it was the truffle season. The amuse bouche was a small but tasty helping of lentil soup accompanied by four different types of bread. Himself chose duck filled gnocchi with orange, while my choice was pumpkin risotto with almonds and a cream cheese. To accompany that we had an artfully arranged mixed salad. The wine? It was either a glass or a bottle and with my favourite Velenosi offering on the list, it was an easy decision. For dessert there was chocolate pie with cherry ice-cream and cherry sauce (visciolata) and an imaginatively presented apple pie with cinnamon ice-cream. The service was efficient and unobtrusive and the daughter, back from her job in London, was a friendly host. The cooking and presentation was of a high standard. You never know what you are going to get when travelling and it is such a joy when you strike lucky as we did here.More

The owner of our airbnb recommended this restaurant for a special dinner and it did not disappoint. The food and wine were both superb and we really appreciated that the complimentary starter and dessert were both made gluten free (our daughter is celiac). Service was...attentive but not invasive and prices were honest with respect to the high quality of the ingredients.More

The vegetable tempura was the best I've ever had. The primi (pasta) was very good. The meat was variable. The beef was good but the venison was close to inedible. All in all it was a good meal but overpriced for the total quality.

What a terrific meal! Very flavoursome venison - slightly overwhelmed by the berry sauce - and perfect vegetables followed by a raspberry bavarois so perfect I will savour it in my memory for weeks. Yum!

This restaurant is near the center of Urbino. The atmosphere is relaxing and the service is amazing. The venison was so good, I ordered a second helping.

This restaurant served delicious food. We had the tempura veg for entree which was melt in the mouth wonderful We then ordered pasta dishes which were great. A gorgeous little portion of a starter soup was freely given and the bread was heavenly Desserts of...apple pie with cinnamon cream and a hazelnut parfait were scrumptious. We were also kindly served a delicious little taster of psnnacotta with caramel The waiters were truly spectacular, helping and carefully watching with great charm Lovely experienceMore

Robust and distinctive take on local specialites here, with a warm family feel to proceedings. It's set in a beautiful stone building close to the centre of Urbino. Traditional courtesy too from Giovanna and her family and there is a creative hand at work in...the kitchen, subtly rethinking how to make the most of seasonal local ingredients. We were given a rich amuse-bouche on arrival, a rich green veloute with toasted pumpkin seeds, and for symmetry ended the meal with free dolci, whipped creme over caramel with exquisitely rich cantucci. Don't order puddings until you have eaten these, unless you have a very sweet tooth and a prodigious appetite. The antipasti covered the traditional meats and cheeses but we both opted for the tempura verdure, a generous portion of fresh vegetables encased in the most feathery batter, flanked by three interesting dipping sauces. We wimped out on the Secondi after this substantial start and tried the stuffed potato gnocchi and strotaprezzi. Both were gorgeous. The gnocchi rather stole the show, with their rich duck filling, but the strotaprezzi were lighter with a fresh asparagus and artichoke sauce. The extensive wine list offers huge choice and a range of prices. Plenty of Vernacchia and Sangiovese but also staples from further afield, like a Brunello di Montalcino. With my pudding I also tried a local red passito, flavoured with cherries, which was less sickly than it sounds. The bill, with service, came to 108 E.More

Housed in a 15th century historic building, this restaurant was so amazing in terms of its professional services and the quality of dishes. We tried vegetable tempura (similar to that of Japanese), cervo arrosto (roasted venison, so tender) and pasta with carciofo + asparago). The...cooking style was so innovative, and they even offered complimentary dolce (dessert). Maybe this is the best place ever to eat in our 2-week trip in Umbria and Marche.More

Charming little restaurant. They could cut corners given that they must have a ton of one time customers. They do not. The stuffed ravioli were excellent. Wonderful service. A great wine list. Beautifully decorated.
