We had an early dinner on Sunday night and were the first customers to arrive. So for a brief moment we had this lovely place to ourselves. We were promptly offered some water and a complimentary bread basket. Then hubby ordered some ham and melon to start with and I ordered buffalo mozzarella with ham. The portions were so generous.... I have been here 4 times and each time the food is excellent. Friendly service and thoughtfully cooked food. I love the Ravioli with saffron and orange blossom. In the evening the home made bread is spectacular. Sad they don't do that in the daytime. The lemon torte is heaven. Also the potatoes with anchovies and zucchini flower for starters.... More

Charming, rather small restaurant that is typically Italian! We got a bottle of water and bread as a starter for free, ordered the carbonara (so good, you have to get that!) and tiramisu and got little brownie bread and a typical italian shot as desert for free. The food is great and the service even better. There were tourists like... More

Excellent! The artichokes were excellent as a starter, then the ossobuco was succulent, one of the best of my life. Service is good, reservation recommended. Would return!

It's always a good sign to find a restaurant favoured by local residents and this one was packed all evening - every table taken and clearly many were regular fans from Rome itself. The owner, who is very visible in front of house, has clearly built up quite a following over the years. A reservation is essential. Different to the... More

We booked for 9.30pm on a Sunday night but that is no problem in Italy! A beautiful meal with good wine at a reasonable price. My wife had eaten there before and was looking forward to going back with friends. It is down a back street but don't be put off. All fresh ingredients and the interior decor was lovely.... More

I have lived in Rome for 9months and tried many places. Osteria del Pegno would been in my top 10!! Its a warm, cosy family owned business and the food was incredibile (I went back twice). I would highly recomend reserving a table.

A small restaurant in a quiet street, a short walk from Piazza Navona (so only just off the beaten track), what I particularly liked was that there was no one out on the street trying to persuade passersby to go in (as we had seen on our way there). It looked good enough to tempt us without such off-putting tactics.... More

I went there with my wife. With the order, we have manage to confuse the waiter, who looked more as an owner and if something is a bit out of the box can't understand. But he guy was very friendly and finally did all as we wanted. The food was as expected - good, but not fantastic. We liked the... More
