Visited this place in june 2013. Fantastic experience. Best food I've ever had and the vine menu was also extremely appropriate to each of the 6 courses. Highly recommended!!

This restaurant aims quite high and mostly reaches its mark. Because we had a large group, we had to do a tasting menu, which ended up being pretty fantastic. We also had a lot of individual dietary requirements, from vegetarian to no-gluten, no dairy, no nuts and more; but they made spectacular adjustments for everyone. The cooking was ambitious, refined... More

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we encountered nothing but friendly and amazing staff! The food was delicious! We did the tasting menu and the wine pairing. We couldn't wait for each subsequent course to come out of the kitchen! It felt a little rushed at times when we hadn't even finished our glass of wine and the... More

I booked this restaurant for our trip to Rome because I liked their menu on the website and from photos the place looked very nicely designed. Food apart, which I know is on what one should base the ratings, both my husband and I enjoy eating in a nice environment, warm, slightly modern but still welcoming. Glass is one of... More

We never rate a restaurant terrible unless we got sick but let me be clear: for the price we paid and the way it's hyped, the experience was near-abysmal. The staff is friendly but rather unprofessional. We were greeted by a menu that offered no room for creativity and were obligated to choose two menus of the same type, displaying... More

The location is awesome, in the heart of Trastevere in Rome. The design of the restaurant is as unique as the cousine. We tried the Glass tasting menu and it was perfect. Every dish was a surprise, there were so many different tastes in just one plate. Three words to describe it: unique, delicious and beautiful. The prices are high... More

We had a special tasting menu pre-booked including wine flight. It was superb. Every course was prepared perfectly and served up in an exceptional way. The wine flight and Port to finish was great. Not cheap but memorable!

This restaurant delights all senses. The female head chef uses molecular gastronomy to create an unforgettable dining experience. The tasting menu was a great balance of snacks, primi, secondi e dolci. It was as amazing to the eyes as it was to my stomach. Definitely be prepared to open your checkbook, but Glass Hostaria has definitely earned its Michelin Star.

This was our second time in Trastevere. Three years ago we came to Trastevere in the week prior to getting married. We dined at Glass Hostaria and were so taken with the food, the ambiance, the service. In fact everything. So on our return to Rome, we could not pass up the opportunity to visit again. Everything was just as... More

We went here with high expectations due to the Michelin star, but the quality of food and service ultimately were unconvincing. Both of us had the vegetarian menu. Here is a quick course-by-course review: Amsuse bouche: Cacao butter ball with mojito and sugar was a fun way to start the meal. Avocado cream was good, but not very exciting, like... More

Description
Glass Hostaria restaurant in Rome’s Trastevere quarter is an eye-full for lovers of superhot modern design. Set in one of Rome’s oldest, most atmospheric neighbourhoods, Glass Hostaria’s fabulous high-concept dining space with its soaring ceilings, open staircase, part-glass floor, sleek seating and stunning gold-filled niches contrasted with raw brick pillars and original beamed ceiling has won accolades and international attention. The Italian menu under the direction of Cristina Bowerman is an inventive balance of then and now, with dishes like starter of foie gras with caramelized bananas (yes, that’s right) and brioche, first course of risotto with oysters, crème fraîche and crunchy artichokes, second course of pork filet with quinoa, smoked tomatoes and orange sauce, and dessert of chocolate cake with rosemary ice cream. The tasting menus are good value and the wine list has over six hundred labels on offer. Hire of this venue would make a superb site for stylish launches or sophisticated parties. The service is excellent and, after dinner, Glass Hostaria turns into a wine bar, so you can linger on and on.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
