A friend who used to live in Campo de' Fiori recommended this place. We went for an early dinner (maybe 6:30?) on a Sunday and found it near empty. The waitstaff was very friendly and the food tasty. There were certain items that were very...specific to them. For a light choice, I recommend the salad with arugula, fennel, pink peppercorns and smoked salmon. There is also a great antipasto with warm mozzarella, mushrooms and little bits of meat. And, more common a good carbonara.More

I would recommend this place for two things. First of all, the chef. Interesting ideas, interesting combination of ingredients. Ask for suggestions. Second of all, the restaurant is in the historical center of Rome.

Great culinary experience, friendly stuff and a place to come back again for their specialities and deserts.

Tourist trap, unprofessional service. I guess they have people falling in because of the central location so they couldn’t care less to provide decent service. Our cream color table cloth was stained (coffee type stains), the waitress said she stained it by mistake (wha?!) and...moved on to serve other tables. One of the tables was very wobbly, we told her and she told us to put a folded napkin underneath, and walked away! She came with the bill and asked (not suggested) to leave her a tip. The bill was neither an invoice nor receipt but a list of what we ordered,on plain paper. Location is nice and there are other nice places in the area.More

I honesty can't believe this place has a high rating. It was the worst dinning experience i have ever had in my life. Absolutely revolting appitizer, The waitress had a face that was allergic to a smile, So unhelpful and uninviting, but would rip your...pockets for a couple of euro. We were charged for bread we did not eat. Tap water, and a service charge. It was just a very horrible experience. We found the place online and seen its high ratings. Very disappointing afternoon and experience in Rome for this reason. Sham on the restaurant really giving the city a bad atmosphere after being in here. Heads up, I would pay a high price to avoid this place.More

We had a lovely dinner in a nice, friendly atmosphere. The fish and seafood appetizers were amazing 🦞 And so was everything else we had that evening. I can totally recommend this place!

Please read this!! I was having a great time in Rome until I came to this restaurant. We were starving so we popped into this place at 6pm for a quick bite. 6pm is early so we thought nothing of the fact that it was...completely empty. My wife asked what wines were available by the glass and the waitress insisted we buy a bottle. We did not. We asked for water and they charged us €2 per bottle of tap water. They brought out a basket of bread and it was very stale. Btw, they charged us €7 for the bread we did not order nor eat. We only ordered two appetizers and one meal each and it took us an hour and a half to get out. Btw, even at 7:30 we were still the only people in the restaurant. Here’s the killer. When I paid the bill the waitress asked if I was going to put the service on the credit card. I asked what service and she said it is customary in Rome to give the waiter 10%. Not true at all. This was the most expensive meal we’ve had in Rome by far and the food was just not good at all. They are clearly focused on ripping off tourists.More

We were looking for a place to eat on our last night in Rome and wondered into this little Trattoria. Up until when we received our food the wait staff was incredibly friendly. Although notably, our server informed us that she was feeling ill and...asked if she could have a cold medication tablet from us which weirded us out a little bit. Anyways, we ordered two appetizers which were lack luster but not terrible. For dinner my sister and I ordered one steak dinner to share. We very specifically ordered one AND said to share and we only have ONE specification for how we wanted to meat cooked. When our entrees came out, they brought two plates of the steak dinner. We promptly told them that we had only ordered one. The waitress then got mad at us and accused us of ordering incorrectly saying she never makes mistakes. We insisted we hadn’t ordered it so they took it back. The service changed drastically at that point. The waitress was no longer friendly and she ignored our table. When the bill came, they tried to double bill us for the steak dinner even though we had kept only one of the entrees. When we called them on this they printed us a new receipt and informed us they weren’t allowed to double charge for the mistaken order. However on the new receipt there was a $13 charge for nothing that we had ordered. We decided not to argue as it hadn’t really gotten us anywhere previously. However, $98 for appetizers that were okay and a steak that was almost completely raw (we ordered medium) was an absolute waste of money. Go elsewhere!!!!More

If you fancy pasta how you’d have cooked it at home if you were in a hurry, this is the place to come. We came because we wanted to go somewhere else but it was shut, and the rain started and we ducked in despite...it being a bit empty - it did have a 4.3/5 on google after all. Not sure who rated it like that but either the management has recently changed or the reviewers haven’t eaten much good pasta. Bit bland, eminently forgettable, pretty sure the pasta came from a packet. Also pretty sure pappardelle doesn’t normally look like spaghetti... One major plus here though: it’s a few doors down from a great gelateria!More

On a Saturday, after 3:00 PM, most restaurants are closed until dinner. We wandered into Trattoria Moderna and had a very nice lunch with wine at a very reasonable price. We ate 2 starters each: more than filling. Our server was very pleasant and attentive...when we needed her, then she left us alone to drink our wine and talk. A thoroughly pleasant experience.More

We walked into this place and received a very welcoming accommodation. The service was friendly and eager to please however while the menu is promising, the food is not great. They could probably benefit from having less available on the menu and taking better care...of the cooking and presentation. That said, it was an enjoyable evening because of the service and the atmosphere.More

We are A New York couple who travel the world frequently and often rely on trip advisor for restaurant recommendations. This place seems is undoubtedly writing its own reviews! The food: (horrendous)-where do we start?? The wine was awful- seems it was bought at a...local low-grade supermarket. The pizza was mediocre at best, with very little flavor. The pasta was gummy and flavorless. I couldn’t bring myself to finishing it. Seems insane to receive awful pasta in the world’s pasta capital. The “steak”- after one look it was clear that this uncooked , grey awful piece of meat was better off returned. As open minded, adventurous world food eaters, this food was so bad, even our motivated pallet could not bring itself to eat it. STAY AWAY!More

We went to Trattoria Moderna for my friend’s Birthday. I must admit that everyone’s food choices were absolutely spot on! The gentleman serving us suggested a spread of side dishes (rather than everyone ordering roast potatoes and wilted spinach) and the spread was really great....I was really full after the dinner but got tempted with dessert and OMG - the ricotta cake (aka cheesecake ;-)) was to die for! I tried some tiramisu too - it was really great. The wine was great, the service was great, great value for money. Really good place!More
