Restaurant was quiet on a Tuesday evening. It is a small restaurants with a small menu but excellent and interesting dishes. Service was great, very personal and low key. We had pear wrapped in bacon as an appetizer followed by home made pasta and terimisu to die for. Nice venetian wine by the glass.

A friend recommended this place. We ate lunch here with 7 people and went back on our last night in Rome with 4 people . Everyone really liked their food. It's small, quite and there weren't any tourists either time (a good sign to me). Walking distance from the Vatican and Vatican Museum. I will return on my next trip... More

I have been to Rome many times and have had dinner often in this "Vatican" section of Rome but had never been to Velando. It is a hidden gem, hard to find, a quiet and peaceful place. The food is delicious, the service wonderful and the attention of the wait staff excellent. We kidded the waitress about some wine that... More

I had lunch here last week while in Rome. It is a quiet restaurant not in a tourist area. The welcome was warm and the service excellent. The food was of a very high standard.

It was our last night in Roma but not the least. Very excellent dinner. Nothing to add. And the chef is also able to serve us!

Our group of 8 ate lunch and were very happy with the ravioli and red house wine. It was quite enough we could all hear each other as the customers were spaced out for comfort and privacy. The portions were great for lunch and you can tell they even care about how something as simple as ravioli is presented. Very... More

The down-side is a bit pricey, although I didn't see the final bill. Pleasant decor, excellent service, non-intrusive but attentive, very quiet, excellent for conversation, I had fish filled homemade ravioli with pomegranates. Very fresh and homemade, but not abundant portions. Friends had gnocchi and tagliatelle that looked at least as delicious and more generous portions than my ravioli.

Behind busy Borgo Pio this lovely small restaurant has a really interesting menu - I enjoyed sea bass and saffron ravioli and a lovely orange souffle like pudding - make sure you don't miss out!

With seeing all the good reviews i had to try this nice restaurant of course. And ..its a gem...small, nothing special from the outside, inside cosy and special atmosphere. The lady recieved me with a smile, friendly, helpfull. They have fixed menus but also a la carte. Its a chef who dares to innovate the recepies..loved the food. The combination... More

We spent our last dinner here with my husband during our vacation in Rome based on earlier reviews. Thanks for the idea! the food was very good, the service very kind. My husband ate veal Milanese style with safrone risotto, I had the day's choice, which was rabbit with sage, both delicious, however my husband found the portion a little... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
