I knew that we were in the right place right off the bat when we were greeted with a big smile from the owner's husband who is an American. The service was fantastic from that point forward. I actually booked this restaurant in advance because of the reviews here and they were very quick to respond and to accomodate. The... More

Visites with our baby early evening. Very friendly staff and nice well presented food. Reasonably priced for what you get too, the pasta is recommended. Good find!

We tried the seafood salad, pistachio pesto pasta, bacon egg pasta, and chocolate layer cherry mouse cake. All were great, but the pistachio pesto was the best. The pasta was obviously freshly made, and all of the ingredients were delectable and wholesome. We had great conversation with our waiter, which is a little uncommon in Italy. Also, the recommended red... More

My daughter Googled "good restaurants near me" and this was our choice! So glad. In the Prati neighborhood near the Vatican, this small tucked-away spot had delicious food and attentive service. It was our last night in Roma and we wanted to celebrate. A good choice. Indoor dining only.

Very friendly staff with great food and wine recommendations! As a solo traveller it's sometimes hard to find a restaurant that knows how to truly cater for you but this place is the exception. Great service, amazing food (happy to cater for allergies too) and superb wine. I thoroughly recommend this place as a diamond in the rough amongst some... More

We stumbled upon Taverna Angelica after getting lost on our way back to our hotel. The décor is clean and modern. They could tell our group of 6 people were a little frazzled. They started us with complimentary Proseco and small portions of a frittata. The menu was in Italian and English. We started with Grilled shrimp, black rice, passion... More

Everything was so delicious. The service was attentive. They helped us pick out a wine to go with our meal. This was my favorite meal in Italy. The shrimp with pistachio pesto was delicious! If it wasn't our last night there we would have eaten there more than once!

Each time I am in Rome I try to have at least one meal at Taverna l'Angelica. It is located in the very nice Prati district near San Pietro. The ambiance is very nice and friendly, soft music. The service is excellent. They welcome you with a free glass of sparkling white wine and some appetizers. I generally go for... More

I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Italy where went all around the country. By far the best meal the entire trip was at Taverna Angelica. In fact, it was the only restaurant that I went we went back to and had a second meal at. The first night I had the octopus and the second night was... More

We ate here last week with a group and were rather disappointed. The acoustics in the place are miserable, and it is so hard to hear. The appetizers were wholly unimaginative...largely various versions of bread with some sauce or whatever. Not a place to which we'll return

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
