This restaurant was suggested by a friend who used to live in Rome years ago. It was full of people, mainly locals, which was a very good sign. The food was absolutely amazing! We really enjoyed it, especially the appetizer buffet were one could try a lot of different things! The only "bad" thing is that at the end I... More

Nice little place in Testaccio, all the roman classics on the menu. Plus a lot of extra courses. Great ambience! Don't hesitate to take those extra steps down to Testaccio, it's worth it. Many fine trattorie and bars.

I was seduced by prospects of local food that would be really good. It was perfectly OK. Staff friendly. Not sure what came was exactly what we ordered, but some bits were decent. The Bresaola with rocket and Parmesan was very nice. The cod diavola was just a grilled fish that wasn't cod, but it was nice anyway. Wine list... More

Liked this place so much I went twice. On the 26th June 2016 and the 29th June 2016. I had the house specialty and eponymous Bucatino di amatriciana. It was utterly brilliant. They fitted me a bib which was great fun, see attached snap. The food was very good overall and i had asked for a capricosa without egg and... More

Our driver who picked us up at the airport recommended this restaurant as we hate eating at tourist restaurants. He eats here with his family so we thought we'd give it a go. It cost €12 in a taxi to get to and was worth the ride. The restaurant was so busy on a weekday evening all Italians too!! We... More

Traditional, local, cheap type food place. Food is really good. Expect low level of customer service . But I would visit again because of price and food quality is good. Staff is friendly.

Upon arriving in Rome, we were absolutely starving; naturally, we went straight to the streets in search of something Italian to satisfy our cravings. We were staying in the Trastevere/Testaccio area, so without looking much into it we began to wander through the streets; however, to our surprise, at 1:30pm there was not much to choose from. I looked to... More

The terrace is aimed at tourists as was the service and "cucina." The interior looked more interesting. Would'nt eat there again and it was expensive.

Food was very good and the owner was entertaining. He schmoozed all the ladies, posed for pictures and made sure you didn't leave anything on your plate. After he made one of us eat our last bites, we were given complimentary dessert. The dessert was awesome, but we were so full we had a hard time finishing. We knew though... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
