The hostess was seriously snooty when we arrived without a reservation. That was a turn off. The servers were terrific though! The food was wonderful! Awesome seitan! The chef surprised us with complimentary radish mousse as an appetizer. Again, try the seitan! The price is not bad if you avoid the wine & liquor.

Me and my fiancé went here during our visit to Rome because we are both vegetarians, we were in the area and our Lonely Planet guidebook recommended this restaurant. Granted, the guidebook didn't raise it to the skies but we thought it would at least be good, since it was mentioned at all. It wasn't. At best, the food and... More

The food in Il Margutta was lovely, and it's great to see a modern restaurant in Rome offering great dishes with vegetarian cheeses. We hope to return this September to try the tasting menu.

Il Margutta made my last night in Rome an unforgettable one. The ambiance was eclectic, yet elegant, and each dish was exquisitely prepared and presented. Tonight I had vegetarian carbonara, and it was the perfect amount of fatty, smoky, and salty -- during my first visit to Rome a few years ago, I asked a waiter for carbonara without meat,... More

Happened upon this amazing restaurant while staying in the area. Can't praise it highly enough. Food and wine (especially) were fantastic as were the staff. Not pricey at all.

You know why the meat products in Italy are so delicious? It is because the vegetables and fruits that the animals eat are so fresh. You too can eat amazingly delicious food just like Noah's Ark little critters do. Head on over to il Margutta and see why their are so many animal species on the planet that are strictly... More

This was a great experience! First: we are vegetarians and too often eat at restaurants trying to "replace the meat". This place is not one of those. We had the "Grand menu" with a bottle of Barolo. Food was amazing and the wine was perfect. They even got us Barolo from another year when we asked for it, which was... More

Vegetarian (don't think it's vegan) restaurant on a lovely street (Via Margutta from the 1953 film Roman Holiday). Inventive, without being over-the-top. Very good service.

Lucky enough to stumble across this on our first night in Rome. An amazing variety of foods, particularly impressed with the background info in the menu for the food choices. We we're also given a trial dish foc, a potato based foam with black olives -beautiful. Courgette flowers and 3 bun sliders also highly reccomended. Lovely atmosphere, really enjoyable evening....
