perfect location on a authentic piazza in the center of the San Saba neighborhood. just sit outside and enjoy. We enjoy the food... but not the desserts ;-(

We were walking in the neighborhood and were hungry so we decided to give it a shot. I took the zucchini flowers as an appetizer, there was too much batter for me but still good. I took the sea bass and tomato pasta, it was...More

This traditional restaurant is serving a good unpretentious italian cuisine. Mostly full for lunch thanks to The FAO civil servants next door. Reasonable price.

Consistently good Italian food in a convenient place in Aventiono. Plenty of parking right in front. Nice to eat outside in the summer. The wait staff are used to dealing with foreigners since the restaurant is right behind FAO.

The setting is nice, especially the outdoor seating, but not spectacular. I found all their food to be very average. Enjoyed the fettucine, but the octopus salad and desserts were underwhelming. Service was abysmally slow and unattentive, with orders confused and messed up. Can probably...More

We both started with strozzapretti alla guanciale - a pasta dish which literally translates as strangled priests with pigs cheek. Nice - although the guanciale was very salty. We then had veal with roast potatoes and bream with gratinated potato and courgette. Both very nice...More

A lot of commentators have noted that the quality of service depends upon whether they know you. This is a risk in most restaurants in Rome - since the majority are owner run, and therefore personal. I have been going here for 20+ years and...More

I live in the neighborhood and have to say al Callarello is a great restaurant and on of my favourites...9 times out of 10. Like many real italian restaurants (not the touristy places in the center), the experience is very different if they know you....More

Very good wine and pasta. But water and bread charges adding up to a slightly excessive €8 for four people and with no indication whatsover other than "still or sparkling"? Ok, no big deal. Until the final bill arrives, where each main course has €2...More

Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is
Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of
ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and
embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the
vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around
the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of
surprises like the clever little keyhole at the
Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find
