We ended up eating here while in Rome on holiday. Just couldn't decide on a restaurant between us and just ended up here by chance. We were seated quickly and everything was going ok until the head waiter realised that all we wanted was some pasta and a drink. No starters, no deserts and no side dishes for the mains.... More

The meal was average, prices were well above average, but the biggest sting was the added 15% "service charge" onto the bill, which the waiters when challenged said it was something the owner put on and was not a tip. We ended up paying at almost a Michelin star price for a trattoria dinner. With the number of restaurants in... More

We first visited in 2015 and loved this place - my kids could not wait to visit again this year and it did not disappoint!! The staff were superb and remembered the kids from last year but the real star was the food which we all agreed was as wonderful as we remembered. The Sabatini special (seafood linguini) was off... Stopped there to get a rest from the sun and some drinks, the staff was very kind and explained the history of Trastevere and even made recommendatios of what to see. They were so nice they gave us a courtesy cake for my sister's birthday! Great way to start the day :)

On holiday in Rome and went to sabatini on my brothers recommendation. Great food - veal, steak, chicken, grilled porcini, bruschetta all very good. A couple of bottles of nice wine all at a good price. We ate indoors because the piazza was very noisy. I guess if you like that sort of thing this is the restaurant for you... More

Served a starter of 8 small bruschetta and 6 slices of prosciutto/salami with old cheese that we felt pushed on to us. The waiter almost ordered for us leaving us puzzled. We ordered 1 ham and melon, 1 fish dish, 1 lamb chops, 1 steak and 2 plain spaghetti for 2 children. The fish tasted liver, 2 lamb chops with... More

Our experience was similar to that of Georges D . I did think the food was pretty good though and the service was excellent . The setting is very pleasant too , on the square where you can people watch as you eat . But the price , Yikes . If the bill had been half of what it was... More

We've been to Rome twice and visited this restaurant on our last night both times. The location is fantastic for dining outside, as the square where the restaurant is situated comes alive during the evening with street entertainers and sellers. The restaurant supplies patio heaters and I've even seen them give a thick table cloth to someone to use as... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
