It's rare that I baulk at a bill but I must admit that I was very surprised at the prices here for what was barely average food coupled with below par service.

It's worth the walk away from the centre. Set in a wide piazza you can sit, eat and feel some sunshine on your skin. We had a range for excellent starters for a very reasonable price. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Classic mistake hotel recommended this restaurant to us so I didn't check it out on Trip Adviser. Staff & service were good, food was good but not anything to shout about we all elected to not have a starter and ordered our main meals, but then while we waited the head waiter said let me bring you some little nibbles... This restaurant was recommended to us by our pastor! We visited St. Maria's church first and then walked across the small piazza to Sabatini's. I had read current reviews of the restaurant and was disappointed that some diners were not impressed with Sabatini's. However, we had a wonderful experience! The restaurant was not crowded (we arrived about 7:30PM) and the... More

It is located right on the piazza Santa Maria in Trastever's spectacular neighborhood of Rome. The food was not bad, maybe average, but there are certain other downsides to this place which should make you think twice before making up your mind about spending money - and I mean money! - here. If you sit outside, just be ready for... More

Food was good but overpriced. Typical turist trap at plaza, with addtional surcharges. Would be better to avoid, you find better places near.

Restaurant is very nice placed in Piazza de Traverse. Staff is very nice and the serve is fine. But the prices are to expensive for the food you get. I strongly don't recommend it.

3 of us decided to fly from Malta to Rome, FOR LUNCH, a bit mental, but we like mental. A freind of ours recommended Sabatini so we took the plunge and booked for 12.30pm. We arrived at 12.15pm and were immediately greeted by our waiter, Alex, very attentive and fun with it. After 15 mins, every staff member congregated around... More

I wish I'd checked them out on Trip Advisor first. Four of us sat down outside for an early dinner and each of us ordered a starter, a simple pasta dish, a mixed salad and bread to share, and a glass of wine. No desserts or coffee. The food was mediocre and the service pushy. When about an hour later... More

Sabatini is a somewhat pricy, but otherwise excellent place for a meal. The menu covers most types of food, from the light starters to more "heavy" meals

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
