Restaurant is very nice placed in Piazza de Traverse. Staff is very nice and the serve is fine. But the prices are to expensive for the food you get. I strongly don't recommend it.

3 of us decided to fly from Malta to Rome, FOR LUNCH, a bit mental, but we like mental. A freind of ours recommended Sabatini so we took the plunge and booked for 12.30pm. We arrived at 12.15pm and were immediately greeted by our waiter, Alex, very attentive and fun with it. After 15 mins, every staff member congregated around... More

I wish I'd checked them out on Trip Advisor first. Four of us sat down outside for an early dinner and each of us ordered a starter, a simple pasta dish, a mixed salad and bread to share, and a glass of wine. No desserts or coffee. The food was mediocre and the service pushy. When about an hour later... More

Sabatini is a somewhat pricy, but otherwise excellent place for a meal. The menu covers most types of food, from the light starters to more "heavy" meals

Please I had a wonderful time here. I liked the patio and view of the square. A woman was playing cello in the square. She was a great musician. I had eggplant Parmesan and it was very good. The bread with the meal was great. I think it was 35 Euro more or less. In my mind it was a... More

Foolishly sat down before consulting TripAdvisor. Poor value for money. The food was not awful - probably below average. Harassed to order several courses. One item 'forgotten' by the kitchen. Staff verging on surly. Excessive cover charge. A 'Tourist Trap'.

Great ambiance! A meal by the fountain overlooking a church. It's a fabulous experience in an amazing city. The food is quite good though on the pricey side. We had a lovely time though noticed that not all guests received the same level of service which was disappointing. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our meal and watching people in the square.

A friend of mine recommended we try this place when in Rome. It's a little off the beaten path in a largely residential neighborhood, tucked away in a small square with a historic church near the Tiber River. Very friendly staff, with the patriarch, Sylvester, quite a charismatic character. He brings out meat to cut right in front of you.... More

As others have commented this place is very overpriced. Paid 17 Euros for lasagna at lunch plus they added a 15% service charge. To be fair, the lasagna was quite tasty and a good size portion. I believe our bill was about 60 Euros for two lasagnas, two glasses of house wine and a bottle of water.

The portions are ridiculously small, but the prices are very far above the average. The quality of food is just enough. At these prices you better choose the best restaurants of Rome, off the tourist track. Sin!! The beautiful square in Trastevere deserves a more friendly restaurant, where you go to eat and sated !!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
