This ristorante was well rated on this website but I ended up being quite disappointed. My dish was overcooked and not tasty at all. The decor was pleasant and the staff was very polite. It was of last night in Rome and in Italy, we decided to spend it in Trestevere. I would have wished for something more memorable.

One of my favorites restaurants in Rome and I mean restaurant and not pizzeria. The service is very polite and respectful but not stiff. Excellent pasta, and grill. The interior has been refurbish respecting the rustic origine of the building. I recommend it for dinner in the terrace "giardino" if the weather is favorable. Perfect for couples but also small... This restaurant has the most romantic courtyard setting, fabulous food and fantastic service. A little more expensive than surrounding restaurants (126E for 5 with proseco, wine, mains and dessert) but well worth the extra.

The setting makes for an enchanting evening in the charming courtyard, reminiscing of Rafael's love affair with the beautiful baker's daughter. Unfortunately, the evening was ruined by the superior attitude of the waiters who probably did not find our informal tourist attires to meet the house's criteria. The food was good but very average. In summary, a great place to... More

We loved it! Went twice within 10 days, first with my friend, then her adult children joined us the second time. We found the service to be good, the waiters were very attentive, and the food was good. But most of all it was the magical setting, a courtyard that was so pretty, beautiful flowers everywhere and all lit up. Very... More

This place has the standard Cacio e Pepe by which all others should be judged! We also had zucchini flowers which were memorable. I will say that the wait staff was not overly friendly or accommodating to our American table but dinner was great.

Fabulous setting for an evening out. The service was friendly and efficient without being too over the top. Super mix of dishes, the Mushroom strudel was a tasty start and Aubergine Parmigana was delicious - not too big and accompanied by some fresh asparagus - perfect. No dessert this time, lovely Peccorini wine and Prosecco. Table of 8 all meals... More

We went to Romolo twice in one week, both times with a group. The courtyard is beautiful, the service was friendly and efficient. The food is great, not over-priced, good pasta, salads, nice wine. Highly recommended.

Definitly the worst experience during our 3 days Rome visit. Happily we saw the rats before we order the starters so we didn't eat anything. Two other couples left just after us when they also saw the rats. At first sight it looked very romantic but the end result was disgusting.

My son and I ate at Romolo as it was highly recommended by a dear friend. The ambiance did not disappoint. I only wish we could have been able to have the Spaghetti Carbonara -- that was told to me to be the signature dish. Oh well -- it was a fabulous night nonetheless.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
