Quite overrated and definitely loosing its former standing. Food is quite average, fried stuff too oily, prices exaggerated.

We had one of our favorite meals at Piperno during our two week trip to Italy (which included a week in Rome). Our waiter was amazingly attentive - at times it seemed as though he was clairvoyant. The timing of the courses was perfect, the...More

Tucked away so discreetly in the jewish ghetto that only the most seasoned taxi drivers know the location of this quaint ristorante. (Definitely a place where you are not part of the seen-and-be-seen vibe!) The food was flavorful and appropriately priced for made-to-order entrees. A...More

After searching and searching in the hot midday sun, we finally located Piperno at 12:20 pm. Unfortunately, they open at 12:45. When I told them we planned to have lunch there and asked very politely if I could use the restroom while we waited, one...More

This restaurant was recommended by the 5-star hotel where we are staying. It's a charming setting tucked away in a little square in the non-touristy Jewish Quarter. But the food is awful: we ordered appetizers that were too greasy too eat: I got artichokes, and...More

Piperno is located in the Jewish part of the city in a beautiful small square. The restaurant is a bit formal, but the atmosphere is friendly and the place itself is interesting. We had artichokes, which were excellent, gnocchi and ravioli. The food was really...More

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Food is simple, flavorful and over all excellent. It is in the Jewish Ghetto. Sit and enjoy the lovely setting; the culture, and the beautiful cuisine. Great attentive service. The tripe is exceptional. Their pasta is so tender. Sauces are a blend...More

Good traditional Roman cuisine in the 19-20th Century Roman Jewish standard. Go for carciofi alla giudìa, filetti di baccalà fritti (far, far away from the standard fried haddock you might have tasted in your life) and ask for a stroll in the Roman traditions with...More

Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori
With three of Rome’s most beloved piazzas within a
five-minute walk of each other, the
Navona/Pantheon/Campo area may be the prettiest and
most picturesque area of the city. Join the beautiful
throngs hanging out in cafes, boutiques, art
galleries, and wine bars, or peek at a neighborhood
museum or monument. If you want nonstop movida, the
streets here are busy with chic bicyclists and Vespa

Hi Barb S. As other Trip Advisors have suggested, its a fair distance/walk from St. Peters and i would personally take a taxi. Re the language...we had absolutely no trouble in conversing with our waiter.
