From a restaurant in the center of Rome, with a high price category, I expected more. My husband and I wanted to eat oysters and drink wine. There are not many restaurants with good oysters in Rome. The taste of the oysters was super, very fresh and beautiful serving. Thank you very much for the cook. But the service leaves much to be desired. The waiter was definitely not friendly, even rude. We waited for the menu for about 10 minutes, it's a long time. The wine list was not brought to us, and we had to ask the waiter to bring it. It was written in the menu that bread is served with oysters, but the fact that it costs 3 € was not this information, and the waiter also did not specify this, although it is mandatory in such restaurants. We waited a long time for the waiter to pour water or wine, but in the end we did it ourselves. When we had not finished, the waiter asked if we were finished, as the restaurant wanted to close soon. Finally, he asked us to take the oysters to the plate so that he could take the ice. Sorry, but this is a terrible attitude towards the client. Next time I won't come to this restaurant.

Would not recommend. Being less than a block from the Patheon, we unfortunately felt like this was overpriced tourist trap. Simple seafood pasta dishes start at 40 euros a plate. We found the pasta and fish to be overcooked and were disappointed. Lastly, the service staff is rude and snotty. If in the area of the Patheon, we would highly recommend LaCiambella (WAY BETTER pasta and fair pricing) or Archimede. Not sure why this place gets any positive reviews. Terrible value for the money.

I have dined here more than 15 times since 1986. Never fails to impress me and my guests. Food is prepared with exciting flavors and visually appealing. Service is friendly and attentive. The wine list is on a digital device, so a bit challenging to scan, but the list itself is impressive.
It doesn't get much better than this in Rome!

We went to la Rosetta for dinner on the first night of our anniversary weekend away in Rome. The restaurant was smart enough with a nice little terrace on the cobbled street so it started off promising. The food was good but not exceptional, definitely not value for money but it’s tourist Rome so ok. What stood out the most was the exceptionally poor service. My wife and I were perplexed. Was it because she is gluten intolerant? Because we were foreign visitors? Did we say or do something?
We decided not to let it ruin our evening and it because a bit of a joke. Bored, with no eye contact, they would walk off part way through your order, they kept forgetting my wife was gluten free and brining gluten items them when asked if my wife could eat it would just whisk it away in a huff. At times it felt like a rip off joint, they would try and take your bottle of water away before it was finished so they could presumably bring you a new one. The service was incredibly slow even for Italy we had 3 courses and it took almost 4 hours…
There seemed to be special treatment for the locals, the chef came out to speak to them etc. One to note the sommelier was delightful and recommended a really wonderful Italian sparking white - he was the saving grace!
All in all a strange experience and I’m afraid I would not recommend unless you are a sucker for punishment! There are so many other wonderful options in Rome.

Five years ago, I travelled to Rome with my two high school aged kids. Both are well travelled, have great palettes and love good food. It was to have been a family trip but my husband couldn’t make it due to a medical emergency but he insisted we go without him. One of the restaurants we raved about was La Rosetta. We took photos of our various courses and couldn’t say enough about how great it was. It had come very highly recommended by some friends who own several Italian restaurants in the LA area and we have recommended it to many friends who happen to travel to Rome.
This July, we made another family trip to Italy with my now college age kids, exploring the Amalfi Coast by boat. Originally we had planned to stay in Naples the night before our return flight to California but decided instead to spend a night in Rome rather than make an early road trip to the airport. Another major reason we chose to do so was so we could dine at the place we had all touted so highly - La Rosetta. We were all so excited to take my husband there and he was so looking forward to going.
We arrived and we’re seated inside, as requested. We ordered our meal and some wine, which came quickly. We received some bread and then everything went south. Our starter was to be a dozen oysters for all of us to share and my son and husband ordered mussels and octopus for their first course. After ordering, we sat for about 10 - 15 min when a party of 4 came in and sat at the corner table next to us. Immediately they had waiters and the sommelier flying around them, opening two bottles of wine and attending to their every need. It was quite a spectacle and obviously they were someone of notoriety because the owner, Massimo Riccioli, came out to greet them personally. We weren’t bothered by it but eventually we egan to feel a little ignored. Our wine glasses sat empty so we refilled them. No problem. But when the other table began getting hot food and we still had nothing except dried bread and when I attempted to get the waiters attention so we might order another bottle of wine and water and I was shrugged off, my husband had had enough. He threw some money (too much, in my opinion) on the table and we walked out.
We have our favorite restaurants in Los Angeles that we frequent and where we are regulars. But we would never be okay with having the staff fawn over us to the exclusion of other guests. I grew up in the restaurant business and my father always taught me that every guest is important, because they chose your restaurant to spend their hard earned money in. Maybe Massimo and his staff need to take a note from my dad’s playbook.
Never again will we go to La Rosetta, when in Rome and it has permanently been removed from our recommendation list for friends, colleagues and business associates.

Had a great meal. Quality of fish is top notch. It ain’t free but you need to pay what is right for top quality.
Location in the tourist trail but this place is for locals who appreciate Massimo’s hospitality and the delicious food prepared by the chef. Well done! I’ll be back. I recommend the ceviche and the octopus.

Would have rated this a 5 but the last course of fresh fruit was not perfect. Kiwi was under ripe and the strawberries lacked flavour. At £15 euros I expected it to be better. This is a fish restaurant and everything else was superb. Nothing is too much trouble. We went off menu for the first course and had amazing grilled red prawns. There are some nice little courses in between. The sea bass fillet in lemon sauce was perfection. Not cheap but I highly recommend this restaurant possibly not with small children due to an elaborate menu.

The Rosetta is always a guarantee. Chef Riccioli interprets the flavors without altering them. It surprises, but doesn't exaggerate. The raw dishes are excellent (although expensive) and every fish dish has always been excellent. The prices are a little scary, but when you sit down at the table, what prevails are the flavours, the emotions that each dish can give. And when you leave you want to come back

Restaurant always lives up to expectations. Excellent fish, superlative pasta with sea urchins and the cuttlefish with artichokes as an appetizer is also worth remembering.
I don't give 5 stars because I found the price really excessive in an average of fish restaurants of the same level.

Excellent meal, excellent service and one of the best locations in Rome. Typically we try to avoid restaurants near the tourist attractions (Pantheon in this case), but Rosetta was an exception to that rule. The menu seemed to be an elevated take on Roman dishes plus a wonderful selection of creative seafood dishes. It’s a little higher-end than most restaurants in the area, but certainly worth every penny.

Few steps from Piazza Rotonda (Pantheon) and you can enjoy fresh oysters, shrimps, scampi. The wine list is like the phone book of small town. Great service, interesting desserts. Expensive, but must to visit

This place is a hidden gem! Found it in a travel book about Rome. From the moment we entered ‘till we left, we had the most memorable time!
The staff, so invested in us in a calm way. The food, from the little surprise we got to eat after we ordered, through the fresh salad and main course, ‘till the dessert and the tiny biscuits, finishing off the meal; SO DELICIOUS!! The wine they recommended and the coffee at the end, also great!
We will recommend La Rosetta to all of our friends!

20 years ago my wife and I had one of the most memorable dinners ever at La Rosetta. This May, we were lucky enough to return to Rome and recreate that experience. If you love seafood, fine dining and a wine list thicker than a small town phone book, this is your kind of place. Located just a block from the Pantheon, it's been one of Rome's best seafood restaurants for over 50 years for a reason. All I can say is, if you're ever in Rome, treat yourself to a memorable dinner at La Rosetta. You'll thank yourself later.

Awesome restaurant if you’re looking for a place away from the noise and crowds and an excellent meal. Needing a change of diet from good cheese dishes and salumi, this restaurant is known for serving fresh seafood. Started of with a vodka martini, oysters on the half shell and ceviché. For my main, had fruitti di maré. My other friends had lobster and Uni pasta. Our sommelier recommended a white from Mt. Etna and it paired well with our dishes. Altogether, it was great to be in a restaurant where you don’t have to raise your voice to hold meaningful l conversation.
