We accidentally visited this restaurant since we had been lost in Trastevere. An old man encouraged us to try their dishes and he ensured that the chef is Italian, and no foreigner as the majority of restaurants use to employ, and that they DO NOT charge service as tourist traps do. We trusted him and the experience didn't disapprove us.... More

Remember the quiet, nice restaurant back in the old neighborhood that you went to on a Sunday afternoon for the best pasta or pizza? Recall the decorations and the paint on the walls? The waiter who anticipated what you wanted as you uttered your first word? Welcome to Alle fratte. Lots of menu choices, but not overwhelming. Delicious food done... More

Very tasty italian food! Cozy environment! We tried antipasti and pasta. The pasta dishes were delicious. Should try definitely ravioli and penne with salmon.

Definitely a good place to eat. Good food and affordable prices. We had antipasti, pizza, saltimboca alla romana, rissoto, carciofi. Risotto carciofi e gamberi was delicious. The service is good and also the location. It`s easy to find. Hint: When you enter the restaurant, take a look at the picture on the left wall and ask for the story.

very good experience, the risotto was simple great, with plenty of tasteful sea food, everything was perfect, also service, quick and efficient. it is located very central, but a bit outside the most touristic street & square, in a narrow sunny and quiet street. just perfect!

We wanted lunch, desserts and coffee without having to rush but as soon as we arrived they told us where to sit. It was not a comfortable place, and perhaps we should have insisted on sitting somewhere else. The ladies were friendly but the guy is not. The pizzas were too thick and bland, so we added salt. The wine... More

Stumbled on this place on our first day in Trastevere. Excellent well priced pizzas in a very local feeling area/restaurant. Popular for lunch.

We were lured in through a rather out of date copy of Lonley Planet.. but this proved to be a good find. Very big portions at very reasonable prices and good solid standard Italian cooking. Very friendly. Not a place to cross the river for - but if you are in Trastevere you will eat well.

We live in Trastevere, and we actually go there often, because the food and the service are consistently good. We have 2 toddlers and we appreciate how nice and helpful the people are. Also, there is room and the terrace is nice.

Thank Claire L

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
