I may have overpaid for a glass of wine, but listening to Italian lounge singers belt american tunes in Italian was worth an evening of entertainment. Best to enjoy with a couple of friends.

Harry's in Rome was a great place to grab a drink or three and chill out. Live, soft music made conversing with other travelers easy. My party stopped in for a couple of cocktails while we waited for our dinner reservations. Was an excellent beginning to a great pm.

Last visited this restaurent 23 years ago. I loved it then and I still love it now! Presentation, food and service were top notch. Waiters seemed eager to help and quick with suggestions. Setting was beautiful and we all had a great time. Can't ask for more really!

Expensive and over rated. Probably loved by the Americans who visit Rome but I would advise to avoid unless you like paying through the nose for average fare. Plenty of other better choices in the streets adjacent to the Via Veneto. Toilets were not very clean on our visit either...

Amazing is how I describe the experience in this beautiful restaurant bar outlet. Location is in Via Venetto, a beautiful street with nice surrounding. Food is exceptional, ordered the Sole fish and Tagliatelle Sea Bass as main dishes, they were exceptional. Very generous service, they bring chips and a big basket of bread with the drink. They has a live... More

We were tired after our 1st day in Rome and simply walked down the street from the Westin where we were staying. This fab place caught our attention...outside dining, Rome's ancient wall just behind, and a very tempting menu. We definitely weren't disappointed. My husband had a seafood dish and I had a salad. I know, how can a salad... More

good ambiance, service was slow, food was good. It is a must to visit while in Rome. Reservations required if seating outside.

Ordered filet of beef rare, not quite rare but close enough. Staff were friendly but a little slow to react, 40 minutes waiting for the bill. We would visit this establishment again accepting the speed of service as the food was good with nice atmosphere.

Expected so much more. The Maitre 'd and waiter were superficially friendly and aloof-- evident that they catered to friends and celebrities at the expense of others. If you appreciate exceptional Italian food, then skip Harry's. Food was bland and mediocre. Service was extremely slow. Had to wait 30 minutes to get the check. The busboy and a couple of... More

We had to go here because of friends and the tour books. A bit expensive but not too much when you consider the location, name brand and atmosphere. We just order wine but like most places in Italy they will feed you lots of small bites and we also got a ham & cheese sandwich-with the crust cut off.

Description
In order to write the story of this cafe we should get to meet every person who has gone to it, or most of them. Certainly each one of them would have a bit of story kept in the casket of their memories. Memories of unforgettable moment, but above all of a bit of history which has helped our Country to be born again. It was the Sixties and our bar proudly represented the meeting place of the " By nigth " Rome, of the " Dolce vita " (Sweet life), the place where riotous loves were born, where never revealed agreements were signed, were everything was familiar ... This was Harry's Bar. In the hearts of the ones who patronenized it, it never died, despite the hard times. Harry's Bar Rome was born in 1959, took its name only in 1962 but the cafe existed since 1918. It was the Golden Gate Confectioner's, quoted in many books. At the end of the Twenties it became part of the De Gasperis' family until 1958, the very year it cake to be American Bar Restaurant. Today the cafe shines in its Boisseirie, and in its plasters, more then 35 years old, of late renovated, the same feel you got in those years. He who doesn't know Harry's Bar Rome, has now good reason to go and see it. Legendary Harry's Bar is the unique place that evokes tbc "Dolce Vita' as if it were a clip from the film, creating a vivid flashback to the golden era of the Via Veneto, when Frank Sinatra sang at the piano and all the stars made their appearance in this bar/restaurant full of glamour and style. As in the roaring sixties, you can still sip an aperitif, enjoy the live piano bar every evening and dive into tbc magic of the Via Veneto from the exclusive and fascinating Harry's Bar. The refined cuisine recalls the freshness of Mediterranean flavours based on prime ingredients. Tradition and fantasy inspire the elegant dishes of the menu, accompanied by the most prestigious labels and a high class service.

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
