My husband and I went here as we were staying in the nearby hotel Gianicolo. We decided to have the taster menu. Small piece of mackerel to start, followed by red halibut, delicious beef with pea purée, tomato soup with ricotta mousse & breadcrumbs, spaghetti carbonara with truffles, smooth cheese with a pastry slice, sea bass, a chocolate biscuit with... Fresh ingredients prepared with thought and imagination. A calm soothing setting, slightly off the beaten track but worth the effort, an excellent fine dining experience. Service could be slightly warmer though this is not a complaint. Thoroughly recommended !

The food, which I can best describe as "contemporary Italian", is of excellent quality and the dishes are refreshingly and surprisingly innovative. A dinner with a bottle of wine cost us about 150 Euro (2 people), but is was worth it. The restaurant also offers a "finger food" tasting menu for lunch, at half price, which I would very strongly... Modern and different from the other restaurants in Italy. More like one you would see in New York . The food was incredible. One of us got the tasting menu and the other got an appetizer and main. The appetizer was huge and absolutely delicious! Lamb and duck open kebab. The scallop on my tasting menu was the best I... More

We went to this restaurant based on recommendations from my friend's mom. I'm so glad we did. The meal started with the waiter bringing out a dish from the chef. We also had a cheese plate. I ordered a salad and the sea bass ravioli, which I would highly recommend. I loved that they brought out a small dish of... More

Antico Arco is a fantastic restaurant, we were lucky to get a booking at last minute but very pleased that we did. The service and the staff were exceptional and very friendly. The wine list very extensive and full of choice and the food was amazing, especially for the price. We decided to have a four course meal; starter, pasta,... More

We visited expecting a lot, we are vegetarian so while the menu is limited we were offered some options that were ok but nothing special. The atmosphere though is good The service is slow and you are left wondering if anyone will come and attend to you.... 15 minutes before you are acknowledged after sitting down!!

You need to book at least few days in advance (as they are fully reserved usually). The location is great (with a lot of greenery nearby the antique Arch) and it invites for a nice walk before or/and after eating. As long as you understand that this is a place of haute-cuisine, the prices are not an issue. The combinations... More

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
