We had high ratings from friends for this restaurant, but they were not full filed. I hope the waiter was new, he had not learned to smile yet. And when we ordered the first 2 things and the wine was not available today! When we received the penne pasta it was not cooked enough so we had to deliver it... More

Most people think highly of this long established place in Campo di Fiori. The food, service and prices are all excellent. The tiramisu is served in a jam jar. What a neat idea! There is just something missing. I think both our waiter and I were each having an off night. I'll try it again on my next trip to... More

If you love Italian genuine restaurants this is the place to be. This family run restaurant is very renowned for their carbonara. A MUST HAVE if you are dining here. The lamb was very very tasty too. The atmosphere is great and the family who run the place are so friendly and make you feel like a local.

We enjoyed the evening stroll down to this pretty restaurant in a quiet side street. If you are looking for a bombastic front man, this isn't your restaurant - it got louder as the evening went on and the service was welcoming, attentive, prompt and professional. We had an anti-pasto to start (that was fantastic) and then my beautiful companion... More

we had reservations for dinner, and apparently they stated we did not. Someone else had made the reservations for us, and put it under another name. I understood this, and walked away. I wanted to give this restaurant a try, however just wanted to have dessert and coffee. The host refused to serve (there was not one table occupied in... More

I wish I had better things to say about this restaurant since it was highly recommended it by my dear friend but ... It was quite empty when we arrived , no greeting , no welcome just a quick seat anywhere you like . Very slow to take our order , very slow to bring our food .. Pasta was... More

The best carbonara ever! We also had saltimboca, and it was delicious. Very flexible about us wanting to share the dishes. Genuine Italian food, definitely a place we would visit again next time in Rome. Friendly staff, called a taxi for us, which was great as we where 5 and had children that where tired and wanted to go home... More

This restaurant was recommended to us as one that was frequented by locals. The food was great and the portions were huge. Pasta was cooked perfectly and the house wine was decent. Great value for the quality and quantity of food (and wine!) The service, however, was just OK, and the atmosphere could've been better - it was noisy and... More

I really wanted to give this restaurant an amazing. The food was amazing! The wine was great. However, the service was pretty bad. The waiter just looked like everything we asked or did annoyed him. I simply asked if they could make Fettuccine al pomodoro instead of spaghetti, and he made it seem like it was the end of the... More

I'll start by saying that I give positive reviews and not someone who will only give a negative one but this was by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. My wife and I went there this evening expecting to have one of the best meals we could possibly have in Rome based on other experiences... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
