There are countless other places in the area to eat I strongly advise any tourists, because tourists are their only trade, to avoid this place. We were met by a very rude male waiter with long hair who took our order, when I asked to change my order less than a minute later he refused even though he hadn't told... More

After very good days in Rome, we tried this restaurant. It looks cozy from outside, but the staff is not friendly at all. At first, we found a place to sit outside. When we ordered the food from one of the staff, she told us one price, but we should pay another. The manager told us that we ate outside... More

After eating pasta and pizza for 10 days straight I was excited to walk in and see all the vegetables in the case. They were friendly and nice, and made me a huge veggie plate to order. Ken got spaghetti with meat sauce and the other meat dish available. The eggplant was out of this world, and everything else was... More

This place is just what it's supposed to be--a local bar that's easy to get in and out of...but you'll find that you won't be eager to leave! The breakfast pastries are largely made in house, and when you get there just as the ciambelle come out, you'll think you've found heaven (or pretty close--St. Peter's is only 2 blocks... More

This place was packed with locals which is always a good sign. Pretty basic interior but the food - salads, mozzarella, cooked vegetables seafood and desserts were delicious and great value. There was a good buzz in there, and the fact that it was rammed didnt stop the waiter bringing out another table for me and my girlfriend whilst we... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
