We came here for dinner on a recommendation and was not disappointed. The staff made us very welcome, even though we had not pre-booked. They were attentive and engaging all evening, as was the host. The food was excellent and their flexible approach to the menu was refreshing (encouraging the sharing of dishes). The wine was also very good along... More

My husband and I were recommended by the St Regis to come to Osteria 44 for an early meal before our night Coliseum tour. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly waiter who made suggestions for us that night. I am not a huge fish fan but I decided to try the fish of the day...when in Rome...and my... More

We love the outdoor sidewalk ambiance, the fabulous, unpretentious food, and the warmth, kindness, and caring nature of the servers and staff. We are new to Rome and decided to go with the delicacies of the region, so we opted for a Caprese salad (ok, so maybe Capri is a bit of a hike, but I digress), followed by the... More

The staff were incredible and genuinely friendly and helpful. We were offered a glass of prosecco whilst our table was being prepared which was a nice touch. The food was delicious and you really didn't want the meal to finish. You must have the buffalo mozzarella appetiser starter. It is to die for. Definitely a must go to if in... More

From the minute we were seated to our Limoncello, we had a great time and enjoyed excellent food and service. Sergio the owner is a character and recommended excellent wine for us and encouraged us to be adventurous in our meal choices. We were not disappointed!

Osteria Quarantaquattro is an excellent contemporary Italian restaurant in Rome with excellent food, ambience and service. We liked it so much that we ate there twice during our 4 day stay in Rome. The Tuna entree was outstanding as was the filet. The pasta course and deserts were excellent as well. We ate outside both times and it was very... More

This is one where our experience did not match the Tripadvisor reviews. The owner is very engaging and welcoming, the location is fine but the problem is with the kitchen. The food does not measure up when you compare with the other restaurants in the immediate area. All you have to notice is that you will see no locals there and... More

Modern decor and relaxing ambience in a nice quiet neighborhood. We had spaghetti carbonara (one of the best carbonara we have ever had), mushroom risotto (very tasty), rack of lamb (so tender and flavorful), and pan-seared branzino (good but nothing too special compared to the rest). Their tiramisu was amazing - freshly made and among the best we have ever... More

My husband and I had our anniversary meal here. The food was good but not worthy of the cost. The owner is very friendly but the service did not match his enthusiasm and they didn't get our order right (forgot our pasta dish) This could be an excellent experience, maybe they were short staffed on the day we visited

We went for a light lunch and was met by Sergio, the restaurant's most charming proprietor who immediately offered us champagne. We chose tuna tartare and a salad which were delicious. Our delightful server urged us to try their homemade tiramisu which might be the best we ever had. As we loved this restaurant so much we went back the... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
