I have become wary of restaurant recommendations made by hotel concierges in Rome. Besides being recommended by the St. Regis, Osteria 44 got pretty good reviews in Trip Advisor, so we went to this modern, elegant restaurant on a side street that was a short walk from the hotel. The owner and staff were charming. It was a perfect night... More

Recommended by the St. Regis. A nice walk from the hotel. The menu is in Italian, but the helpful staff and owner are quick to assist with food and drink recommendations. A nice meal. The owner was on-site, checking on customers and engaging in conversation.

Our hotel recommended Osteria Quarantaquattro to us, so we thought we would take a chance but first I checked out the reviews. I kept reading about how friendly everyone was there and especially Sergio. We were not disappointed by any means. We were the only ones in there for quite awhile since we wanted it to be an early night,... More

A lovely modern twist of Italian food located in a back street you don't find by accident. with a typical lively atmosphere and kerbside dining the food and service is really super. There take on tiramisu is unlike any other. Definite for a revisit on future trips to Rome.

Asked for the recommended tree course dinner, but got just a translation of all the menu items. Chaotic mix of waiters that was somewhat confusing. Food was ok, nothing to remember really. The wine prices were high compared to nearby restaurants

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor, partly because of the owner Sergio, and also from the amazing reviews from fellow travelers. There were 7 people in our party, and I'm sure they thought we were loud Americans, but come to find out, they loved us! When Sergio introduced himself to us, we immediately felt like family..we trusted completely, his... More

Small restaurant, but knowledgeable staff and friendly owner. Definitely recommend a reservation. Had a delicious cacio e pepe with truffles, starter of mushroom salad, and lamb. We asked to have the dishes split to share which was done for us in the kitchen and owner happy to serve us glasses of wine vs. a whole bottle although wines by the... More

Having found this place via the helpful suggestions on several websites, we decided to make a reservation via our hotel concierge. Since it was a Monday, I don’t think it was necessary to make a reservation, the patio area was full, but the inside of the restaurant was nearly empty. We were greeted warmly by the bartender and asked if... More

Having been recommended by the hotel we happily went off to Osteria 44. We arrived to be asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't, however, after a couple of minutes they said they would fit us in. This seemed rather strange as the restaurant was half empty and remained so throughout the entire time we were there! Can't... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
