About
In 2003 Maria Agnese Spagnuolo opened her individual gelato shop. Since then she rose from the ranks by creating unique flavours. The Passion of Maria Agnese for the freezing world transformed her shop intoa fine atelier of the frozen dessert, where hand-made gelato becomes anextraordinary experience!

I was surprised and remain surprised by the top reviews for this place. The cones are miniscule and so are the servings, offered with the traditional half-sphere scoop. I am sorry to report that I did not trade quantity for quality as my gelati were...almost tasteless. I ordered a hot chocolate and it was undrinkable. I seldom write negative reviews but this was a shocker in Rome. I hope others can prove my visit simply an unusually bad one. Are the cones kids' sized? Are the scoops miniature? Is the taste weak? is the hot chocolate awful? Please add your comments. MikeMore

Great little Gelato shop with a good selection of flavours and friendly staff. Nice area to congregate outside and I joy a glass of wine, beer or a Gelato from this place.

If you have read my reviews about ice cream places, one of my favorite thing is to taste granita (slushy). I love good sweet/sour granita. Italy has not let me down. I will continue to find more places for granita. Now, fatamorgana is bit mid-range,...but you can get some great flavors and if you want to taste some gelato you can. This place I am writing about is in the same line as Roscioli cafe (Piazza Benedetto Cairoli 16).It was a hot day, so why not after Roscioli, try some nice granita and some gelato. The granita was good and the gelato was excellent. I would like to find more places, after COVID era passes. Do enjoy this if you get a chance to grab some granita enjoy!More

In our 4 day stay we came here 3 times and between the two of us tried 12 different delicious and original flavours. All the numerous commercial places on the main streets come nowhere near. Well worth a detour. Recommend the dark chocolate ones.

Now with a location in Los Angeles, Gelateria Fatamorgana first expanded inside Rome itself, and although both scoops and storefront in Monti are small the Gelateria that hashtagged #naturallygood has become a destination for both freshness as well as purity. The brainchild of Chef Maria...Agnese, her dedication to the art of flavors dating to a childhood in the kitchen with mom, it is inside the shop at Piazza degli Zingari 5 that guests will find ideas built on “No Tricks, Just Nature,” novelties like Almond Flower set adjacent standards such as Stracciatella for €1.50 a scoop. “Motivated by curiosity,” and seasonally focused on the globe’s bounty, it is after perusing some 36 flavors that guests are encouraged to choose, Lactose-free Amarena Cherry vibrant atop Sicilian Pistachio without any added sweetness while Stracciatella and Dark Chocolate “Estasi” both focused on textural contrast, the latter by way of bitter Coffee Beans and toasted Hazelnuts.More

Out of all the gelato places we tried, this one by far had the most unusual flavors. However, the texture was more ice .. almost like shaved ice vs creamy. We tried the ginger pineapple which was great, and another that was a little sour.

Thought this gelato would be amazing as it made the many best of gelato lists in Rome. Scoops were tiny and flavors were standard. I would say it’s more natural than others according to the marketing but I wouldn’t rush there. I tried the location...in Trastevere.More

2 tiny serves in a cup for €2.50. Are they trying to save money? Please be more generous with your serves.
