Came across this restaurant on theculturetrip.com searching for restaurants near Piazza di Spagna. We came earlier than our reservation but the waiters seated us no problems. They offered water (€3.50 for 750ml still) and Prosecco (€7.00 per glass) to start when they brought us our English menus. We ordered carpaccio, risotto with swordfish and fettuccine with shrimp. The swordfish was... More

Very good food. Home made pasta. Very creative dishes, not the best but pretty good. You won't be sorry.

We are a Canadian couple visiting Rome for 10 days. We went to Sofia twice and both times we had a very wonderful experience. The restaurant uses very good quality ingredients, the food is always very tasty and fresh. The service is always outstanding. The staff is always so friendly and pleasant. The place is always so warm and cozy.... More

After a few days we grew tired of tourist traps and the menus which seemed very much the same everywhere. Finding Sofia was a delightful experience. Elegantly decorated, lovely food, friendly staff. Quality all the way through.

It is Minimalistic and Urban in decor not forgetting ladies in mind--good ambience with a sense of humour on wall pictures showing different caricatures of women. The wall picture near the cashier says something like: Better serve the future than recording the past (a real statement for Rome). We had sweet peppers Friggitelli in provole cheese cream and Kataifi rolls... More

Very good food and a incredibly warm and gracious staff. I was solo on this trip so I popped in a bit early for dinner by Italian standards 7pm-ish after a walk to the Trevi Fountain. I was greeted warmly and seated immediately. I ordered beef carpaccio with berries which was very nice and the pasta amatriciana which was fresh... More

Exceptional service and food. Great direction and assistance were provided during our wine and menu selection. The restaurant is small and comfortable with an atmosphere of welcome and warmth. The staff was attentive demonstrating care and concern to ensure we were pleased. We definitely would dine there again.

My husband & I visited the Sofia for a meal on Friday 21st October, we were blown away. The restaurant is quite small, I counted 30 covers. Staff were wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable & helpful. When it came to the food it was just exquisite, who thought that a tomato soup could taste so good? And the fillet of beef with... More

The hotel we are staying in recommended Sofia to us. We were not disappointed. We had the beef with broccoli and gorgonzola. Delicious and rich. Perfectly cooked. The cheesecake with wild berries was outstanding.

We ordered its set lunch (16 EUR) which we all had linguini with clams. It was al dente (more on the chewy side). The focaccia bread was good. Expresso was a bit too strong for our taste.

Sofia is our pet dog and mascot,…. a friendly and loving Jack Russell who accompanies us in our adventures. This is why we decided to give our most precious project her name!

An intimate, family-run restaurant with very few rules of thumb:

a menu which respects the seasons, using the finest of Italian produce, always fresh every day;
traditional Italian recipes together with other dishes specially created by our chef, and inspired by the flavours and colours of Mediterranean cuisine;
our desire that your lunch or dinner take place in intimate surroundings and make you “feel at home”.
