The excitement and standard set for this place is probably to high. If one goes to Michelin approved restaurant you think it cannot go wrong. It can, if you dine at Pipero al Rex. I will not go into details and list all the points: - representation of all the dishes was spot on, however there was nothing extraordinary about... More

Had tasting menu of 6 courses...delicious and well presented...duck tartar, mousse egg yolk with nuts, short pasta with salami, spagetti carbonara, crackling pork belly and ice cream almond nuts.....great wine list to match inc burgundies and bordeaux. Service as one would expect in 2 star michelin...Roberto Max Alex....highly recommended if u looking for michelin rated restaurant.

The food was without question or doubt worth a detour. Don't forget to reserve or it might be difficult to get in. The service was impeccable and the service was outstanding. We took the "surprise-menu" with the suggested wines. i'm still wondering if the wine was worth the price. Every dish came with an explanation (honestly, sometimes a bit difficult... More

We went to this restaurant on our first night in Rome and it was an excellent way to start off our stay there. Pipero is a very personable host. We put together our own tasting menu, with some recommendations from him, and had a fantastic meal. The highlight was the Spaghetti alla Carbonara, which was incredible. I will go there... More

I dined at the restaurant the night before my wedding with my fiance and our parents. It's a lovely restaurant, competently run, with competent and almost interesting food, but when you're looking for a special meal on a special night to remember, this is not the place. We all decided on the tasting menu, and while I did appreciate the... More

My husband and I recently returned from Rome where we ate at several Michelin star restaurants. This one was our least favorite. The food was fine, but nothing special. The Carbonara at Roscioli is much better (although the ambiance is horrible there) if you are only going here for the pasta. I'd steer clear of the tasting menu they offer... More

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Wine pairing with the tasting menu was on par and course size was ample. The only thing that felt off putting was the expert after the meal. When the waiter brought the check, he said that I could not add a gratuity to the credit card, but cash gratuity was acceptable.... More

Before getting to the review, let me set the expectations straight. This is a one star Michelin restaurant so you know you will get great food. But there is a difference between very good food and excellent food. And personally, I do think Pipero falls into the first category. We were a group of 10 people and booked in advance.... More

Simply the best meal we've ever eaten. Every single course was a taste sensation. The spaghetti carbonara was to die for.

Very nice dining room with well spaced tables and pleasant decor. Choice of menus - either a tasting menu or a la carte. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu which comprised 2 starters, 2 pastas, a main and a dessert. You are also given a number of amuse bouches & breads to start the evening. Overall food quality... Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
