We booked Pipero al Rex from the Philippines and eagerly went with our 2 children. From the start, we knew it would be a special experience. We were greeted by the owner and then proceeded to eat dish after dish of delectable food prepared with such beauty and wit. Love each dish!

It seems to be impossible to get a table, we were lucky to find one last minute. Let me tell you something, my friend and myself both cook and wanted to try this highly recommended restaurant. Perfect choice. We left them involve us in the trip of different dishes, all of them lovely at the view and wonderful in taste.... More

We enjoyed all our courses. The food was outstanding. Many interesting taste sensations. The service was professional, if a bit serious. I thought the price was fair. The only downside is that it was extremely warm in the restaurant. I don't know if this is normal. It was a very warm evening in Rome. My hotel had suggested I wear... More

I had an excellent lunch here. The price of the tasting menu is a bit high for lunch, 100 Euros, but the food and the service are perfect. I let the owner choose my dishes and my wine for me, and he did a perfect job!

Myself and my girlfriend decided on our trip to Rome, we would choose one high class restaurant to treat ourselves with and Pipero al Rex, was where we decided. The staff were incredibly attentive and the service they delivered was second to none. The food was brilliantly creative and delicious and there were countless amounts of plates brought out before... Amazing! The food, the service and the ambience, all perfect! Called the restaurant last minute to see if they had a table available. They were very accommodating and allowed us to have a later seating just to fit us in. Arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by the matrie'd, who was friendly and welcoming. They were great hosts and... More

The tasting menu experience was wonderful from beginning to end. Chef Luciano has mastered the tastes in his dishes well. I recommend ordering this to fully appreciate the entire dining experience. Each dish was well balanced, delicious and beautifully presented. In addition to 2 appetizers, 2 pastas, a meat main and a dessert, there were complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a... More

Lovely place with excellent service and delicious, interesting food. Wine matches were great too. Only michelin star restaurant where we've been met by the owner at the door and he proposed to tailor a tasting menu around our tastes and dietary requirements. Love the flexibility and creativity. Beautifully intimate room with a relaxed atmosphere. Go hungry!

If you're ready for a reasonably-priced, yet world class, experience as a remedy for all the Roman trattorias and osterias this is it. A wonderfully nuanced small room, it's quiet and apart from all the activity. The chef's menu is a fine journey through flavor, texture and fused cuisines. The preparations were clever, provoking and delicious.

Went there as a couple. Small restaurant serving six tables for maybe 45 people max. Reception and service are attentive but a bit stiff (which seems to be a common denominator in high class restaurants across rome). Presentation of the different dishes of the tasting menu lack enthusiasm, which can be found once the staff is engaged in dialogue. We... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
