I dined at the restaurant the night before my wedding with my fiance and our parents. It's a lovely restaurant, competently run, with competent and almost interesting food, but when you're looking for a special meal on a special night to remember, this is not the place. We all decided on the tasting menu, and while I did appreciate the... More

My husband and I recently returned from Rome where we ate at several Michelin star restaurants. This one was our least favorite. The food was fine, but nothing special. The Carbonara at Roscioli is much better (although the ambiance is horrible there) if you are only going here for the pasta. I'd steer clear of the tasting menu they offer... More

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Wine pairing with the tasting menu was on par and course size was ample. The only thing that felt off putting was the expert after the meal. When the waiter brought the check, he said that I could not add a gratuity to the credit card, but cash gratuity was acceptable.... More

Before getting to the review, let me set the expectations straight. This is a one star Michelin restaurant so you know you will get great food. But there is a difference between very good food and excellent food. And personally, I do think Pipero falls into the first category. We were a group of 10 people and booked in advance.... More

Simply the best meal we've ever eaten. Every single course was a taste sensation. The spaghetti carbonara was to die for.

Very nice dining room with well spaced tables and pleasant decor. Choice of menus - either a tasting menu or a la carte. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu which comprised 2 starters, 2 pastas, a main and a dessert. You are also given a number of amuse bouches & breads to start the evening. Overall food quality... Top ambiance top service excellent food. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been in Italy and as regards its famous carbonara it is the best by far. Great wine list, staff is fluent in English. Very professional and very friendly. It really deserves its Michellen star with affordable prices and real value for money. Congratulations to... More

A very good one-hatter, probably deserves to be a two. The food was contemporary Italian and very creative. Fine dinning. We had the degustation menu and highly recommend that as there were things we certainly would not have picked ourselves on the a la carte menu. My favorites were the squid with amazing green flavors, the rigatoni and the pork... More

My husband and I had the tasting menu for 100 euros each. This was the best dinner we had during our 2-week stay in Italy. The blend of flavors was unique and the presentation was lovely, neither were outlandish, as in some other Michelin starred restaurants we have gone to. The service was excellent. The menu consisted of 2 starters,... More

Whatever you do, do not miss dining here. Service, food, atmosphere everything is the best! We found it on line, the owner was responsive to our reservation, and we had the best meal we have ever had in Italy or anywhere else for that matter. The place is small, the staff excellently trained and the food incredible and expertly presented.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
