6 days in Rome in August can be challenging when the temperature rises to 36 by mid/day and the crowds become exhausting . Then you stumble upon an absolute gem that transports you from the mayhem and into a garden ( literally ) that’s full...of tranquility and replete with unexpected serenity. Cafe Doria is absolutely delightful ! The surroundings are exceptional. The service is very professional- staff are clearly classically trained and are well paid . Let’s not forget the food - we shared a beef carpaccio that was ca worthy contender for the title of best ever beef carpaccio the world has ever known . My partner had a mad salad that was fragranced with no less than 14 aromatic herbs /flowers and I was totally blown away by a michelan star standard pasta dish / ravioli stuffed with Roman carbonara sauce and sprinkled with bacon dust - on my life the best pasta dish I’ve ever tasted - ever . Really lovely and amazing place in Rome to unwind end enjoy haute cuisine for the price of a mediocre trattoria. Total bill euro 80 for 2 starters , 2 mains , coffee , 2 beers , i cocktail . At the end of a very hot July day in Rome, we went for aperitivo in the inner terrace of the Caffé Doria giving onto the courtyard of the Galleria Doria-Pamphilj. Difficult to imagine that were just one wall away from the hustle and bustle...of Via del Corso and the Piazza Venezia, as the courtyard was serene and less hot than outside. We particularly enjoyed the fried ravioli with carbonara filling. We had booked a few weeks ahead as the terrace has a limited number of tables.More

We got here at lunchtime by surprise and were attracted to the lovely terrace in the courtyard, especially with the warm weather. We ordered the Panzanella, spaghetti alla chitarra and the Insalata con gamberi rossi. Also two glasses of white wine. The panzanella was tasteful...but really small, the spaghetti fine and the insalata had gamberi rossi in it who looked like they were defrosted (a bit mushy). So, all in all...we ate okay but the location was the best feature. We feel like this restaurant wants to be in the Michelin/Bib Gourmand league but isn't there yet. The lunch was overpriced, Twenty euros for two little glasses of white wine. The spaghetti was tasteful but he insalata had mushy shrimps. So a total of 86 euros for a okay lunch is too much.More

My wife and I ate here for lunch and absolutely loved it. We stumbled upon it as we were on a walk through Rome. The pastries through the window caught our eyes. The lunch was incredible and the service was great. Additionally, it was SO...cheap relative to some of the other meals we had. To be fair, we did not have any adult beverages during lunch, but it was still shockingly inexpensive (especially with the complementary bites and dessert. 10/10 would go again.More
