This is a real Roman local place - where you get great food at good price. The place is filled with locals bearing testimony to this. The food is great, good value for money and there is a lively scene. The wine selection is really...good.More

La Tavernaccia is clearly an authentic "where the locals eat" Roman restaurant. The 10-15 minute uber/cab ride is clearly worth it and is partly why the tourist clientele is limited here. The staff is very friendly and helpful with providing assistance with the menu. The...atmosphere and ambience are great, including the ability to watch the staff hand slice fresh prosciutto. The food is second to none, the suckling pig is fantastic as is the Amatraciana. And to top it off the pricing here is great regardless of your budget. When in Rome treat yourself to a trip to La TavernacciaMore

We showed up before they opened and was welcomed to co e have a seat inside while they got the kitchen ready. We even received a glass of white wine and something to snack on while we waited. The restaurant was beautiful and the food...was amazing! We started off with an appetizer, artichokes and tomatoes with Buffalo mozzarella cheese. I enjoyed the All’ Amatriciana which was served on rigatoni instead of the normal bucatini that I have grown accustomed to. It was delicious! My husband had a pasta dish that he said was incredible. I have no idea what the name of it was but he was so impressed that he had to order there braciole to try also. I tasted it and was extremely impressed. I will say that because of this restaurant we will be changing the location of our room next trip, so we can eat here more than once!More

We have been traveling through Italy and visited many great restaurants most in Rome. This place was recommended by two of our guides. so we made reservations for 11 people. It all started off very well as we were seated in a timely basis and...greeted by a nice young woman. Now understand we are used to Roman service which is far more relaxed that that of the states. Somehow we got shuffled off to a young man with some attitude who began the downward trend. As the evening progressed and the delays began we all noticed that arrivals much later than us were certainly receiving far better attention then us. Some parties were much smaller and some were of almost equal size but all seemed very local. Dinner was served haphazardly and indifferently. I will say that many of the dishes were quite good especially their roast suckling pig but the their service and attitude was so appalling that we all decided to forgo dessert and asked them to call a few cabs for us. The response from this waiter was pay the bill first then we will call. What? Ok that was the icing on the cake. Well to make a long story shorter. I'll give the food a 4.3 service a 1 . Never to return. Told the referrers of our experience and they to were disappointed especially since one of them lives very close to the restaurant and likes it a lot...More

There is not enough space to say everything I want to write, but here it goes.  La Tavernaccia is simply the best place in Rome, which explains why you need a reservation. Anyone wanting to eat the best quality food, prepared in the most authentic...way, served with the touch and hospitality of a family-run restaurant which is still going strong 3 generation in, this is the place.  They do not "do turnover," and they do not take shortcuts.   We just ate here, again,  for Sunday lunch, and I couldnt believe it, but the food was EVEN BETTER.   Maybe because of fewer tables for "safe" dining, combined with  pent-up cooking passion, it was very evident that the cook was putting his heart and soul into each dish.  This place is even more worth the trip, before things "expand" and the crowds return.   (That said, the food was always perfect before current number restrictions.)  The pastas  (Amatriciana, Pappardelle con cinghiale) were perfect. These dishes set the standard, as the family only uses the best specially procured ingredients from the best sources in the region; you will never be able to eat the "usual stuff" offered around town again.   To start, we had the Affettato Misto, simply the best quality cheeses and hams, also, specially selected and procured by the family.   Every ingredient in everything has a story, if you ask, they will tell you.     We also had the veal with potatoes, which was great, and the Maialino al Forno, also a famous dish here, hearty, tasty and really satisfying.  Come very hungry, its well worth it.  For anyone who wants to taste food that will set the standard, with laid back comfortable atmosphere, this is the place.  This was our cherished experience, and I'd wish it for anyone coming to Rome.More

I travelled to Rome a few years ago and what was I looking forward to the most? The delicious Italian food. Over my week long vacation, I had wound up in some touristy places with food that was just mediocre. But finally on my last...night in Rome, I found the best food I'd eaten all week. I took an Uber from my hotel to the restaurant and as I drove through the street in the middle of nowhere I wondered, will it be any good? Or am I going to end up disappointed? But believe me, I wasn't disappointed at all. As I walked in, the beautiful aromas filled my nostrils. As soon as we sat down we were offered drinks from the waitress who couldn't have been kinder throughout the evening. I wish I caught her name! She handed us the hand written menus which were written rather messily so they were hard to read. The only language they had the menu in was Italian. There must've been at least 70 things on the menu ranging from soups, salads and pizza to pasta and meat. I chose prosciutto ham and melon for starters along with my dad which was so salty, I watched a member of staff cut it straight from the huge ham in the corner of the restaurant. My mum and sister had the cypress sale which they said was delicious. The main dishes took quite a while to come, but the wait was 100% worth it. I had beef ravioli which was warm, tasty and fresh. You could just tell that the whole dish was made with the best ingredients and totally from scratch. My mum had her favourite meal, aubergine parmigiana. Still to this day she says that is the best she ever had. My dad tried the pork belly and it looked so tender and crisp. The smell was phenomenal! The fridge of desserts looked so appealing, I just had to have one! I decided to go traditional with my choice and choose a tiramisu. every tiramisu I have in future will be compared to this one. The creaminess, the flavours, the beautiful presentation. This dessert really was the perfect way to end this unforgettable meal. Once we received the bill, the price was reasonable for the quality of food my family and I had just received. In my life, I've been lucky enough to go to number of great restaurants but La Tavernaccia is one of the most authentic and delicious I've ever eaten at. Next time I go to Rome, I'll be hurrying to go to La Tavernaccia.More

By Rome standard the taste and price ratio is excellent. In Rome to have buono dinner for 30-35eur per person it was very good experience.

We visited here on our first night after reading reviews and it did not disappoint. Everything from our waitress to the pasta to the wine was impeccable, the ragu was too die for! We sat at a table outside on the lovely cobbled street, it...was a perfect setting! Visit here for incredible Italian food and friendly serviceMore
