We were recommended this place as we wanted an authentic Italian Restaurant that was not a tourist trap, and we got that and much more. Yes this is not the prettiest place, but it has a lot of character. Our hostess, which we assume were the owners, were just first rate as was the food. My kids had a Pizza... More

This is a HUGE restaurant and is probably the oldest in Testaccio. But it really hasn't changed in 100 years and honestly there is nothing that they make here which you can't get better within 100 meters. The food isn't bad, but it's just really, really dull. If you have been eating here for 3 generations---which, trust me, most of... More

We had twice lunch in this restaurant during our trip to Rome. The restaurant itself is basically accommodated, as a typical Italian trattoria. The food however is of very good quality. Do not expect to get a luxury plate dressing, but good quality ingredients and meals at a very modest price served by very gentile staff. Go here if you... More

The staff was extremely busy on Christmas, but very accommodating. We were a party of 7 with two preschoolers. The atmosphere was lively and convivial. Our grandsons were entranced by a small dog sitting under the table next to us. The food is honest and earthy. The hit of the day were the fried artichokes- truly delicious and different.

Visited with the family (two adults and two kids) and a friend in the evening after a long day walking around. Could make everybody happy: kids going for pizza, adults going for local delicious pasta dishes. There is even a grill for steaks. We arrived around 21:15 on a saturday night without booking and easily found a table. The food... More

Local friends took us to their favorite spot and it was simply delicious. The service was warm and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend to get a feel for homemade Italian food! Will be returning next time I visit.

Our tour guide took us to eat where the locals eat and this did not disappoint! The dishes were all amazing, especially the pasta, prosciutto, house wine, cappuccino and so much else! The owner was so attentive and friendly, making sure that we were satisfied. They even gave us dessert to enjoy with our cappuccino!

Found the place by accident, but was a really nice surprise. Had home made ravioli with spinach and gorgonzola: it tasted so delicious. The waitress was very friendly and offered a small entry before the main dish. I recommend it :)

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
