We live in Rome and just needed a change. I'd eaten here once last year and wanted to try it again. We arrived without a reservation and we seated downstairs, which was fine and cool on a hot evening. Tzatziki and other appetisers good as well as stifado and mixed grill. Evening rounded off with dessert and ouzo. Service was... More

We have visited Akropolis several times over the last month and have found the food to be consistently good, as well as the fantastic wine, all for a very reasonable price. Would very much recommend this place!

Me and my partner went to Akopolis on recommendations from friends and one former visit from us about a year ago. We passed the restaurant at 7 pm and booked a table for 2 at 9 pm outside. When we arrived we first had to wait 20 minutes after telling the manager twice. We got seated inside. What follows is... More

My daughter is studying nearby and recommended this place. We had a terrific dinner. The waiter was Greek and very nice. He made several recommendations, all of which we enjoyed. We spent a bit more than we expected but still not that much and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Hidden in the maze of old Trastevere alleys this small but cosy restaurant adds a spice of Greece to the heart of the Eternal City! The Greek owner ensures reliable Greek recipes one can enjoy sipping Retsina wine on the outside veranda. Prices are honest by Italian standards yet not thrifty. The excellent service adds a bonus to it!

We ate here for dinner tonight and everything was very good. My husband got the gyro mix plate, it came with tomatoes, tzaziku sauce, french fries, onions, gyro meat and some lettuce. It was very very good. I got the lamb pita plate which came with the same thing except salad and mine was in a pita. Our friend got... More

One of the best places to eat in Rome! The service is warm, the meals are delicious. They even advice us what would be better to eat. It's not expensive. Good location. I'll come back!

We go here on a regular basis for good, authentic Greek food. The starters are amazing and the neat is really yummy. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the last time we went the chips were undercooked. They need to be more consistent.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
