Although well recommended, found this to be rather disappointing. For a starter my seasonal vegetables turned out to be peeled carrots some celery sticks and some doubtful olive oil. The roast guinea fowl had been in the oven drying for some hours. Pasta dish for my partner was a congealed mass of creamy sauce and overcooked pasta. Atmosphere was good... More

Really recommendable trattoria close to the ancient sights of Rome. Just a 10 min foot walk away from forum romanum this place offers the real thing, good homemade Italian kitchen for a reasonable price. Pasta was fresh with simple recipes just as I love it. Make sure to reserve on weekends in the evening. We dropped by spontaneously at a... More

This is a very nice spot, efficient service and food that was delightful. We wanted a nice plate of pasta and this place delivered. The risotto was especially good. Not pricey and very quaint.

Located very close to the Coliseum - while not an upscale place this is as good a restaurant as any in which to take a break from a busy day of touring .We were a group of 6 and were all happy with the food ( individual pizzas all around ) and wine .

Popped in out of the rain on the off chance while down a side street. Friendly welcome. 1st course of fettuccine with anchovies was ok.... second course of rolled veal was not so good. It was cold. The waitress was friendly and took it back. It came back 3 mins later. But the same plate... so they microwaved it!!! Disappointed

We stayed very close to Taverna Romana, and reserved a table in person the day before. We arrived and were seated promptly. It is small and busy, but we felt that was a sign of a good restaurant. The wine was good, and the food was delicious. We had lovely pasta dishes, and I had delicious lamb chops for my... More

We stumbled across the Taverna Romana while looking for another place in the area that is recommended in several of the guide books, and we are very glad that we did. When we arrived around 1:00 on a Monday afternoon, there were only a few people having lunch, but when we left about 1.5 hours later, nearly all the tables... More

The place was busy and we had to wait. There phone didn't work so couldn't book. Service is grumpily Italian - but still worth the wait. We had a two course meal - and hoped for deserts - but our eyes were bigger than our appetites. Started with pasta the carbonara for me which was lovely. We had it as... More
