Make sure to have a pasta dish and, if you have room, their traditional chicken cacciatora, made the old-fashioned way: no tomatoes, just white wine, rosemary, garlic and vinegar. A caveat: Be prepared for the Roman way of slow service: they get very busy, so...More

Walking distance from the Pantheon, easy to miss in a a little hidden alleyway had I not known about it. Barring a pair of tourists the rest were locals always a good sign. The Bresaeola and the house made Tiramisu were amazing.

We were told about the restaurant by a fellow traveller and we lucked out. We enjoyed it so much that we visited twice. It is small and out of the way, and we arrived without a reservation, but because they had just opened at 7:30...More

This small but quaint restaurant located near the Pantheon is excellent. We grabbed a table for two when they opened for dinner at 7:30pm and had one of the best meals ever. We ordered the beef tartare - exquisite organic chopped raw beef served table...More

Amazing is the word to describe this place. As you walk around Rome there are many places that have people out front trying to coax you into their establishment. Not here as there is no need for them to do so. This was a recommended...More

With a reservation, we were seated by charming staff at a table in the photo on this page...great location, good sized tables for conversation and camaraderie. The food was outstanding. Their specialty, the carbonara, was truly tasty, chock full of flavor and savory goodness...although a...More

It is not easy to find but it is worth looking for. It is a small, friendly, good quality osteria that offers genuine Roman food. Nothing to do with tourist menus.

Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos,

I had a hard time accessing their online reservation, but calling them was very simple. They speak English and will have no problem understanding you.

Hi, Beth! 6:00 PM is awfully early for dinner, in Rome. As a matter of fact, Osteria del Sostegno's evening hours go from 7:30 PM—11:30 PM, Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. Good luck!
