Considering its proximity to attractions such as The Trevi Fountain and The Pantheon, this restaurant, La Locanda del Tempio, was good value for money. Many restaurants in the area nag you to come and eat as you pass the outside seating areas; personnel here happily accepted "We'll be back later", gave me a business card, and one hour later we... We had the set lunch menu today, the starters were indeed very generous, cannelloni were very good but the carbonara sauce was overcooked and tasted like boiled egg. The mains, weren't good, saltimbocca with pork instead of veal was too dry and the pork with mushroom sauce, was a pitty the pork was so bad quality, because the sauce was... More

We were jet lagged and missed the hotel's free breakfast. So, we needed a place to fuel up for a long day of walking about in Rome. This place was conveniently on the path between monuments, so we stopped to eat. The wait staff were friendly and attentive enough, as someone else said. The food was decent and very reasonably... We stumbled upon this place at the fag end of a really busy day where we had walked a lot. This place is somewhere in the middle of the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain. The food happens to be quite ordinary as per Italy standards. Enough to satiate your hunger and get you ready for some more walking. They do... More

My husband & I were walking around Rome and it was a very hot day so we stopped to get a drink and cool off. I had an aperol spritz and my husband had a beer- it satisfied us both and we did get cool!

Freshly prepared food & tasty. Service perfectly acceptable, but not particularly attentive. The guy out front encouraging people in was the only one who actually looked like he was enjoying his job. The rest certainly weren't miserable, just "doing their job". All-in-all, acceptable, but not overwhelming. I'd go back, unless I find somewhere better.

We've ordered 'penne al pesto' and we have receveid 'penne 4 formaggi' + basil. At least that was written on the check. The wine was terribile. The service is very slow. Also, the 'tagliata' is not good at all. Don't eat here if you want to taste the real italian food!

Went here today February 5 only to discover that it was closed, for apparent refurbishing. Not to worry just along the lane is the Ristorante Rosa Rosae, that should be a good substitute until this place reopens

Came here on a recommendation from our hotel, right round the corner and full of smiling staff. The food was delicious and the price was delightfully reasonable. The older Italian waiter was a lovely character and helped make the whole meal that bit more special. If it weren't our last night we would be returning without a doubt!

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
