Virginiae was recommended by our B&B host- said it was one of her favorite restaurants. My husband and I can see why. The ambience was simple and classic , especially an outside table with the flow of Roman life skirting by. The service was friendly and our waiter Shejan made sure we ordered seasonal, Roman and delicious dishes to experience Italy. The food was fantastic- freshly prepared and seasoned perfectly. We were in Rome ten days and ate there three times because it was a step above our other choices
( which were also good). We left with good memories of the food but more importantly of the staff who made us feel welcomed and appreciated . Shejan was very thoughtful in explaining how to enjoy the dishes the way they were intended to be enjoyed- a little balsamic added, a little bread to enjoy the sauce…. Italian food in the US will never seem the same. We truly enjoyed every minute and every bite. It’s rare that you find a combination of good food, great service and a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere , but this restaurant has all of the above. When in Rome again- this will be our first stop for dinner.

I have lived in Rome for several years and I am constantly looking for a good restaurant that allows me to eat well and not pay so much! Rome after the pandemic has suffered unsustainable inflation that does not allow you to pay for good places to eat, however there are always places that remain ethical and honest, such as Virginiae. This position has been a discovery that leaves you wanting to return, not judging it for being in the center full of tourists like I did. Because the level of accuracy in the level of the dishes gives you a feeling of respect, the atmosphere as an osteria gives the warmth of the house and the helpful attention of the trattoria makes you feel valued and if it is Silvano's turn, you have done everything the serata The probability that you will be satisfied is very high, there are not so many places like that left. Thanks for everything.

The environment is very pleasant, very clean, perfect furnishings and lighting, very pleasant background music. Perfect bathroom (the men's bathroom door doesn't lock but oh well), liquid soap and air system to dry your hands.
Extremely professional service, we were looked after by Silvano, a truly great gentleman, polite, competent, fast, never intrusive. The chef (I don't know) is very good, the dishes are impeccable: we had bruschetta, Roman artichoke, carbonara, tonnarelli with pesto. Everything is really excellent, generous portions as I like, plus the dishes arrive quickly. Since it was lunch and not dinner I drank a beer, but I saw a nice wine list. Must try when I come for dinner. Regarding the quality/price ratio... we would have to say... we spent around 35 euros per person for starter, first course, water and beer. For a dinner with wine, taking first course, side dish and desserts you will probably spend 80/90 euros. But oh well, it's money well spent. The tables are very close to each other, it doesn't bother me, on the contrary.... we exchanged a few words with the neighbors at the table!. But someone who wants to talk about confidential stuff might not like it. If you want, there are tables in a mezzanine....but sitting there seems rude towards Silvano and his collaborators who every time have to climb a flight of stairs. There are also external tables, where I will never sit because you can I smoke and am severely allergic to nicotine.
Really wanting to force myself to make a criticism: a gentleman with a beard, probably the boss, always remains seated on a chair. Now it's true that we, Silvano and our collaborators didn't lack for anything, but in my humble opinion the boss also has to go around the tables a bit to interact with the customers.
In conclusion, Virginiae is an excellent restaurant, with perfect cuisine and impeccable service, where we will certainly return.

It's a shame that customers are used to it, having a restaurant in the center is not synonymous with quality and attention to service must be a priority. Here they obviously haven't understood it yet. Immediately after finishing the dessert they brought the bill to the table, unpleasantly inviting us to pay immediately, not forgetting to joke between them in the room, impatient for us to leave (at eleven in the evening in the middle of August). A rare rudeness, while the same cannot be said about the quality of their food. Never give money away to these spoiled restaurant workers again.

This came highly recommended on Trip Advisor and did not disappoint. First time in Europe, first time in Italy and first time in Rome. We are from Montreal Canada.
We were here on 2 week vacation. Started off great by having a beautiful Italian dinner at the Virginiae. Our waiter was Sylvanno. Great service .The place was quite busy at 20:30 on a Tuesday night in July. We had 2 starters: freshly made Bruschetta and … that were delicious. We followed that with four different dishes so our family could try and taste them all.
Lasagna was exquisite, cacio e pepe was so good it was our favorite, the meetballs in fresh tomato sauce was so tender and melt in your mouth and the Mezzi paccheri alla gricia all that you would expect and more. Sylvanno recommended the house wine wich was quite affordable and paires nicely with everything.

Last night I ate for the second time in this nice restaurant. Both times I ate really well. We got both first and second. Highly recommended pappardelle with coda alla vaccinara, but in general all the dishes are good. The quantities of the first are right, the only problem is that you want to eat everything and more as they are good. Prices are average for being in the center of Rome, especially if you think that it is one of the few restaurants where you do not eat food for tourists (from a qualitative point of view, the dishes are those of tradition). I take this opportunity to greet the very kind and nice Silvano, both times I have been in this restaurant has always treated me well, when you are undecided take advice from him, he also helped me talk to my American friends.
Until next time

TL;DR - food is out of this world, but the service is even better somehow!
My wife, our baby and I arrived 30 mins before opening/our reservation. Silvano greeted us and apologized for not being able to seat us right away as they were still getting ready. However he asked us to come back in 10mins and he will seat us then. We asked to sit at the tables out front while we wait and he kindly said yes. During the wait, we could see Silvano busily instructing his staff to prepare faster while moving fast himself. We were then allowed in early with a big smile.
During the meal, our baby was fussier than usual and we had pick him up, and even take him out for a brief walk before he calmed down. Silvano (and also all of his staff) we're very kind to us and helpful. I'm not sure they know this but we could even hear some of them singing a jolly song amongst themselves and it really helped ease our nerves and feeling of embarrassment.
And, as mentioned, the food was really out of this world. Everything was homemade even their olive oil! We ordered their house wine, to which Silvano said we will love it. And I did! It paired very well with everything we ordered: sliced meat and cheese platter (with fresh homemade mozzarella), spaghetti carbonara, fettuccine with meat sauce and their meatball (so delicate and juicy!). We will surely be coming back as it was such an experience to stand out as a bright moment admist an itinerary filled with wonderful experiences in the beautiful city of Rome!

I'm always afraid of trying restaurants in the center of Rome and instead this place is proof that you can eat very well even in central areas even if you pay the right amount. Silvano is a helpful and very polite host who came to our aid for any request. All the dishes were really excellent with high quality raw materials! Super recommended!

We had lunch last Sunday with the family, relaxing atmosphere with jazz music in the background. We ordered bruschetta mixed with Roman artichokes and scamorza as a starter, all delicious. For first courses carbonara amatriciana and cacio e pepe and these too are all delicious. For the second course, baked lamb with potatoes, ossobuco saltimbocca and Roman-style chicken, all exceptional, and to finish, even better homemade tiramisu and panna cotta! However, the difference was made by the service, in all the times I have eaten in restaurants I have never had service like this. Silvano is not just a waiter, he is a beautiful person who entertains you, makes you laugh out loud, moves you and excites you, one more reason to come back! Thanks again Silvano for your kindness, sympathy and professionalism! See you soon!

Having researched reviews long before our trip, we had a reservation for dinner here that we weren't able to make but since we were in the neighborhood we decided to stop in for lunch and we are very glad we did.
This is a traditional Roman restaurant with cacio e pepe and Carbonara type pastas, as well as the typical secondi choices you see all over Rome, but the food here just felt a little more elevated than other similar restaurants we went to. We all agreed that in 9 days of lunches, this was by far our favorite and would have made for a great dinner.
All of the food was delicious. Pastas were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was the friendliest waiter we encountered in Italy and was very attentive. We ordered two glasses of wine and since he had to open a bottle to serve us, he gave us the remainder of the bottle free of charge which was a nice gesture. Do yourself a favor and get the bruschetta which is a mix of different spreads, not just tomato.
The location is close to Piazza Novana but a few blocks removed so it's outside the tourist trap zone. There were two parties of Italians celebrating their birthdays here which says a lot about the quality of this restaurant compared to its neighbors close by that are frequented by more tourists looking for slightly cheaper eats.

The food was much better than I expected it would be, given how close it is to the tourist destinations. My wife enjoyed her salad and I ate the pappardelle with oxtail, which was delicious. Our waiter, Silvano (I believe that was his name) was incredibly hospitable and we appreciated his attentiveness.

Restaurant in the heart of Rome, not very touristy, which makes it more authentic. Excellent food, and Mr. Silvino's treatment was very good, adapting to our language and giving us recommendations from the menu.
The lasagna and burrata are spectacular. Sensational desserts. For 30/35 euros per person, it is impossible to eat better in the center of Rome.
100% recommended

I loved the location and eating outside right on the street. It was lively and the atmosphere just made the night a perfect ending to a long day of sightseeing. I tried trippa alla romana for the first time, and it just wasn't my thing, but everything else was delicious. Our waiter was awesome and so friendly. The 10 piece bruschetta with various toppings was awesome, as was the red wine and pasta, and it was a delight to hear that with our salads (which were in huge bowls- what a plus) came their homemade balsamic vinegar.

My wife and myself ate dinner at the restaurant on our first night in Rome based on reviews left by others. We then returned on another two nights based on the previous meals we'd eaten and the service we received from a smiling ' Shejan' our waiter who again waited on us each time we visited.
We tried various starters. pasta dishes and deserts, everyone of them was faultless. Om our final night we tried the Tomahawk Steak which was cooked to perfection. The owner came out to check that everything was good and seemed delighted that it was. It's so nice to see from everyone there that there's real pride in their food and service. When we return to Rome (which we defiantly will as it's a stunning place) we'll be visiting Virginiae again .. Grazie from Darren and Alison.

If your looking for a great meal and fun outdoor dining experience make a reservation at Virginiae. The food is reasonably priced and every dish we had was well made and delicious. The service was excellent too. Virginiae is located in an area that is bustling in the evening with several gelato options and small shops. It's worth a visit.

Parioli
Young and well-to-do families are the street flavor of Parioli. A new kind of Rome, this area is centuries away from the Renaissance with its pockets of 1930s palaces, tony boutiques, open-air markets and plenty of coffee shops. Parioli was built as an enclave for last century’s haute bourgeois and still represents as such in 21st century Rome. Need a break? The area has several great sporting clubs known for tennis and riding, a wonderful modern art museum, easy access to the zoo (Europe’s oldest), and is nestled around Rome’s very best parks including Villa Borghese, Villa Ada and Villa Glori.
