Friendly family restaurant. The special entree of the night was baked artichokes. Crispy & tasty. The lobster pasta - small "bug" size lobster pieces, difficult & messy to eat, but delicious, Mains: seafood "soup" with lovely fresh sourdough bread. We didn't eat dessert.

This restaurant is tucked off in the middle of a small and not active block, you take a staircase down to it. It's worth it. The food is amazing, and the waitress was hilarious and sweet. I tried sword fish for the first time here, and I'm a fan now. They also have great desserts, and great wines.

We've been there on a Monday night, the staff is very welcoming, and they also speak English and French. The place is a little dark and I did not like the furniture a lot. The food is supposed to be typical, and getting a "cacio e pepe" was a good idea, since it was really well made. Two people in... More

In a city where there are as many trattorias serving standard food as there are migrants selling fake designer goods choosing one from another is not easy. This is an average example. Certainly not bad but not what you could call great either. This should not be seen as a negative review: everything we ate was reasonable and the staff... More

As it was our first night in Rome we wanted pasta and were not disappointed. Spaghetti con carni for the boys, tortellini with mushrooms and truffle for me and everyone's favourite was the goats cheese pasta with pepper my daughter had. We were also suggested an entree of artichoke which we enjoyed a lot - much to everyone's surprise. We... More

Title says it all. Wife and I were not starving and had different food choices in mind, which led to a strange order but that should be no excuse for some of the dishes we received. The veggies were way over-cooked and the potatoes were cold when they reached the table. The steak we split had little flavor and was... More

High Quality. We were here 2 times in one weekend. The first time delicious pizza. The second time steak with truffle and tortollini with mushroom pecorini and truffle. The best Italian food ever. The Desert was heavenly. It is a real Italian family experience.

My husband and I had their tortelloni fusilli, primi piatti, and pizza margherita. Tortelloni fusilli is a kind of mushroom torellini with garlic and creamy sauce. Primi piatti is ravioli stuffed with salmon, and the ravioli itself paired with glazed tomatoes. Both dishes excellent and should be paired with the restaurant's house wine (red or white). The tortelloni brought out... More

We had a very enjoyable meal here last night. The decor was very tasteful with lighting that was unobtrusive and gave a warm glow throughout the restaurant. It was a very pleasant and relaxing space to spend time in. The service was excellent, attentive and not over done. The food was good, we didn't want a large meal and enjoyed... More

Following a recommendation from the friendly receptionist at our hotel (Amalfi) we enjoyed a lovely meal at La Vecchia Conca. We had very attentive service from Patricia and the food was excellent. We had breads, two main course, two desserts and drinks for less than €50 for the two of us. Really good music and pleasant atmosphere.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
