A restaurant is a commercial business, so of course we understand they need to make a living the best they can, but yesterday it was pretty obvious that the ONLY purpose of this restaurant is to take your money and not giving you good food quality or to make you at ease, despite the staff posh attitude... trying to push... If you want to try the real Indian taste, in my opinion, there is no better place to go for in Rome. I am working in University of Rome for almost an year now, and going to this place quite often. I have taken my Indian friends as well as European friends there, and never got complaint from any of... More

The hotel has good ambience, good music. The food was pretty decent as well, not to forget at reasonable rates. What however cannot be pardoned is the rude nature of the staff. When asked where the restroom was or how to turn off the tap, he is reaction was getting irritated and showing angry gestures as reply to my questions.... More

I am not too fond of Indian food, but we were passing by, we were hungry and we wanted to try it. Like most of traditional Indian restaurants, this one is a little too decorated and over-stuffed and kitschy. We ordered chicken biryani, some samosas which were not too crispy, the usual tandoori chicken and padums, called also papars which... More

We didn't mind the small portions, but we did mind that the fish we ordered stinked and the lamb was chewy and hardly edible. We told the guy and he blamed their butcher at the marketplace for it - what a gentleman. A no-go.

So happy that we ate at this restaurant. Food was delicious and not healthy (I.e. not super oily/buttery like many Indian restaurant). Great choice for Indian food when in Rome!

We stayed in Rome for 2 nights and we were happy we ate in this restaurant. The place was full as we had gone on a Saturday and required prior reservation. We ordered Rotis, 2 chicken curries, 1 Vegetable curry and Steamed Rice. The taste was pretty authentic and the quantity was also decent. On our 2nd day we had... More

We had read great reviews about this place but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. We ordered 2 gravy and both were too oily and undercooked , basically tasteless. Being an Indian I can say way better food is served oh highway eateries in India. My suggestion... Don't go and spare your heart and stomach all the trouble.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
