We walked over to Trastevere to visit Santa Maria and found many reasons to linger there. We were walking by this quaint cafe when the wait staff greeted us warmly. We checked out the menu and decided to eat there. LOVELY! Great wine, pasta, meatballs and dessert. Do NOT miss this place for lunch or dinner!

We stayed a hotel near this restaurant. When we went there, there was no table available. We made a reservation came back next day. We tried Vongole pasta and it was very delicious. Staffs were friendly and food was delicious. We miss their food.

This was the best experience in a very long time. Excellent food and very nice staff. You need to reserve though, always packed. Will recommend gnocchi with gorgenzola, and the tiramisu was amazing. Do not take the house wine but something they recommend! Enjoy!

This wonderful side street place with a woman owner/chef and one waiter is terrific! Not much to look at with tables crowded together and checkered table cloths....but the food, Oh My! The buffalo mozzarella was the size of a baseball and the tomatoes looked as if they had been painted bright red....the eight lamb chops (yes, 8) were cooked to... More

The traditional Roman pasta are here really to enjoy! We had as starter fiori di zucca and carciofi alla giudia...perfect. Then pasta cacio e pepe and a gricia. Fantastic, the best ever. Next time I will order just a half portion because I like to enjoy more than one dish. Will come back!!!

My men's cooking group dined here one evening. The Poggi family could not have been nicer. The place was jumping but in no way did we feel rushed or drowned out by the other patrons. The food was delicious and plentiful. And, at the end, a little "digestive" of limoncello topped the evening!

We were very glad to have booked in advance at this busy and bustling little quaint restaurant. We were greeted very warmly and looked after attentively all evening by Giulia (the owner) and Bijay (our server). I had the Pork Leg (the biggest single Pork Leg serving I've ever seen!) whilst my partner had the veal. A bottle of Giulia's... More

We went to diner in Historia La Botticella my boyfriend and I a weekday when the restaurant was full. The lady (I think the owner as well) has been very accommodating to find a table. We ordered antipasti of veg + antipasti of cheese then pasta. The food was generous, delicious, served in big portion and for a very honest... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
